Shape Run 2016

My annual date with Shape Run this year was a great one! It has been my mandatory races to join every year and never fail to disappoint me.

Since they came up with the 15KM category last year,  I've been participating in that category since then.

The queue at the racepack collection.

Many people as usual but the queue moves fast hence there's no long wait before finally collecting the race pack.

Many goodies from the Shape Run's race pack as usual..

For me, Shape Run has been the earliest race I've to wake up to attend for the year. Flagged off time for the 15km was at 6am. Totally dreading but the only motivation was to beat the hot sun.

Totally pitch dark before flagging off and my eyes could barely open then haha!

As expected, it was running in almost darkness for the first 45 mins of the race,

My aim was to follow the 1 hour 50 mins pacer and not let the 2 hours pacer catch up with me in order to achieve a personal best for this race.

Sun rise that morning was beautiful.

The number 1 reason why I love joining race is not only about the great sense of accomplishment but also about being rewarded with scenery like such :)

Beautiful skies that day.

Almost reaching the finishing line..

I was following closely the 1 hour 50 mins pacers but at the last 5km, I started to slow down and just run and walk at my own comfortable pace.

When I passed by the finishing line, I knew I've achieved a new personal best :) Yay!

Bumped into this mascot (if i'm not wrong it's biotherm's mascot) and decide to take a pic with it then haha!

Bumped into hot mama YT who has just finished pacing the 10km race too. Always glad to bump into her at races/at our neighborhood park.

With the hard earned medal.

15km was never easy because my limits is always at 10km. I could have just signed up for the 10km race but I've been pushing myself further since then hoping that 1 day I will be running in a HM once again.

With Derp who drove me there to the event menu and waited in the car for me haha. It was a long wait indeed.

Yay to us completing the 15km! We have been signing up for the buddy deal since 3 years ago.

Last but not least, some pictures from Running Shots..

And that's a blur version of me at the background haha..

One of my favourite race photo this year. Very nicely taken by Sotong from Running Shots :) He's one person that's hard to miss during races haha!

Never regret joining Shape Run and definitely looking forward to joining it once again in the coming years.

Dinner @ Nakhon Kitchen (Kovan)

One of the Friday night, we decide to have a impromptu date night to Kovan area for their famous Thai Food. I guess we can't wait till our yearly BKK trip to fulfill our cravings haha.

But anyway, it's not the first time I dined in at Nakhon Kitchen. The first time I had it was at the Bedok's branch and it was very crowded during lunch time. Heard that during dinner time, you also will be expected to queue for long. No doubt, the Kovan's branch has a long queue forming outside the restaurant when we reached,

We waited for nearly half hour before getting a table on a Friday night. Even though it was already 8++pm, there's still a long queue outside the restaurant.

Btw, they are just located next to the where the famous Hatter Street was. So you probably can head for some yummy waffle ice cream after your thai food dinner.

Very convenient indeed :)

The menu.

Every item is affordable and definitely not those markup price authentic Thai Food.

We ordered our food even before we got our seats so that they can faster serve us the food once we gotten a seat in the restaurant.

Even their soft drinks are from Thailand!

So here's what we ordered..

Stir Fried Minced Pork with Hot Basil Leaves - $8

Disappointed that they weren't spicy at all but sweet instead. Was expecting it to be a spicy dish.

1 kg of lala - $10

This was a promotional item (not in their menu). For 1 kg of lala, it's really a lot but very yummy as all the meat was thick and juicy. Totally worth it for $10.

Seafood Tom Yum Soup (Clear) - $6

This is legit and the main reason we are here for. Affordable and authentic tom yum soup! We love tom yum soup that are clear base :) However, the soup is not as spicy as the ones from Thai Express though.

#flatlay of our dinner

The total bill cost of our bill was less than $30. Worth it because I feel we did over order for 2 person haha! So if you are looking for affordable thai food, I will think Nakhon Kitchen is a good choice and they have several branches in Singapore :)

Yi Dian Xin (一点心) @ Upper Serangoon

One of the random days whereby both of us crave for dim sum, we went to explore this dim sum eatery which have been around for quite sometime. It's not very far from our place so we reckon it's worth a try.

We were there on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and we were able to get ourselves a seat.

The stall's banner.

The awards they were awarded and the celebrities whom have been there before.

The menu

One of the main reasons why we are here is because the dim sum here is very affordable as compared to big dim sum chains like Canton Paradise/Tim Ho Wan.

Our total bill..

The Liu Sha Bao is the must order so that's the first thing I ate when the dim sum comes.

The molten custard in it flows out really well. They were generous with the fillings and the overall taste of it was good. 3 for $3.80, I will say it's a bit costly as they were actually quite small. Much smaller than the ones that I eat usually.

#flatlay of what's on the table.

Generally, everything taste yummy and for $20, it's pretty worth it :) We actually did went back there again not too long ago. Definitely a place which we will keep going back for affordable dim sum!

Nirai Kanai Okinawan Restaurant (Liang Court), TSUJIRI @The Central

Long awaited meetup with the ladies and this time round we met at this hidden gem found in Liang Court. I totally didn't know there's such a Japanese restaurant around and in fact, it's a traditional Japanese restaurant.

Our dinner venue - Okinawan Diner Nirai-Kanai :)

Able to spot the traditional and vintage deco even before stepping in the restaurant..

The interior of the restaurant..

Interesting chilli oil they has..

Didn't took a photo of the menu but anyway here's what we ordered..

The cold toufu that comes with every main..

Us with our cold tou fu before digging in haha..

It's really soft and yummy as claimed by YY and Claire (they've been here before once). Taste very different from the usual toufu that you eat

This is Claire's mains.

This is my mine. I purposely ordered this mains because it's come with their signature rice which looks and taste really good.

Big bowl of toufu for me :)

This is YY's main. If I never remember wrongly, it's a bowl of brinjal.

Our side dish - Fried Chicken

Yummy especially when dipped the sauce..

More pics before we start eating..

No idea why there's clothes hanger behind us haha. It's apparently part of their deco too.

Claire and YY..

Group pic..

Overall, the food is delicious and healthier choice haha! The price is affordable too and the dining experience is truly one of a kind.

After dinner, we went to Tsujiri @ The Central to chill with some drinks. Nope not alcohol type of drinks but healthier type of drinks instead.

The shop front.

Surprisingly there were still many people chilling around even though it was already quite late on a weekday.

Many good looking cakes but we were too full to try them.

Our drinks.

Esther and I shared the yuzu iced tea (on the left), while claire and yy shared yuzu ice blended drink (on the right).

#welfie
Will definitely head back there again to chill if there's a chance because the yuzu iced tea is really good. Especially eating the yuzu bits that comes in the drink :)
