Bonchon @ Compass One

Bonchon has opened at Compass One for quite sometime and I've actually dined in there quite a few times because the food is pretty good.

The menu..

The mains..

They served army stew too :) Had not try that till date though..

The main highlights have got to be the various kinds of Korean chicken they served..

Korean meal is incomplete without their fried chicken wings..

6 pieces Wings  - $8.90

We ordered the 6 pieces wings to try. We go for the half-half flavour (half spicy and half soy) as I can't take spicy food as well as Derp does.

Their fried chicken is not bad even though our top favorite has got to be those from Four Fingers :) Just a reminder, the spicy flavored wings are really spicy though. If you can't take spicy food that well, please go for the soy version then. I had 1 piece and that's the maximum I could go.

Chicken Spicy Ramyeon - $9.90

The chicken rameyon was good too. It provide us the comfort food kind of feeling. Best eaten on a rainy day :)

The chicken they used is those fried chicken type so I actually took it out from the rameyon to prevent the chicken from getting soggy. I was expecting those bulgogi chicken so this is kind of surprising for us. For the value of the dish, it's pretty worth it.

All in all, the food served at Bonchon was good and the price is affordable. We shared the chicken and rameyon and it's more than enough for us for our dinner :)

We go back there pretty often these days as long as we crave for korean food! Glad to have this Korean eatery (definitely something new) added to the hood for us.

Pokemon Run Singapore 2017

The first race of 2017 was a fun run :)

Feels good to be starting the year with a fun run to get the year going haha!

Getting hooked onto Pokemon Go was a hit last year and I remember clearly how addicted I was to the game. So joining the race was not surprise even though the race is expensive. However, the entitlements ain't that bad afterall.

It's more like paying for the race experience/ambience more than anything else.

Race pack collection was held at Bugis Plus.

#OOTD to the racepack collection.

The race pack collection venue.

It was beautifully decorated with all the Pokemon related stuffs at the race pack collection venue.

So cute!

Race pack collection was done quickly. We had the chance to take photos with this beautiful backdrop.

So happy with my snorlax race pack haha!

What's in the racepack :)

Actually, there isn't anything much. Other than the race t-shirt and pokemon towel which looks really cute!

On race day, the sun was soaring high up in the sky simply because the race doesn't starts early. There were various waves for the race and we were in one of the last few. I think when we finally get flagged off, the time is already close to 9am?

While waiting for flag off...

Shielding ourselves from the hot sun with the towel. If not we will probably be sun burn!

Almost our turn to get flag off after the massive human jam towards the starting line..

This kid race tee is really cute. It is so much cuter/nicer than the adult version.

It was a 4km run rather than a 5km fun run. The route was shorter than promised and we ran/walked all the way. Probably walked most of the route as no people were really running as the weather was way no mercy!

We had to collect the "Poke Ball" along the way. It was part of the race pack for us but we were only allow to collect it on race day itself.

Can totally tell they did put in some effort for the race to make it more interesting.

Yay to reaching the finishing line which means finally can hide ourselves from the sun.

The stage for performance thereafter.

There were booths selling Pokemon related merchandise but the queue was very long. So we didn't queue for it and left the race venue after taking some photos.

With our first medal of 2017.

The medal is so cute. That's actually the main reason why we join the race.

Derp with his medal and also the pokemon towel lol.

My finisher picture

Because I think that carrying the Pokemon towel throughout the race (which I never do so before at any races ) will makes the after race photo turn out nicer :)

Spot the Pikachu mascot before we left. There were a really long queue for it.
I'm glad I took picture with the mascot on my birthday celebration last year. Only need to take it once and is #achievementunlocked

Ending this post with the picture I chose to post on instagram..

My TV buddy with the finishing medal and 'pokeball' :) So cute!

That's all for my race review for the Pokemon Run Singapore 2017. I truly believe it's a once in a lifetime experience so no regrets joining it. There probably won't be another one so I'm glad I joined the race this year!

It is already half way into 2017, and I've completed 3 races till date.

Shall write more about them as we go along. That's all for now. Till the next race review then :)

07/01/2016 Perth Trip Day 3 - Full Day Pinnacles, Koalas & Sand Boarding 4WD Adventure by Adams Pinnacle Tour, Nao Japanese Restaurant)

Got back to writing the long overdue Perth Honeymoon post after what seems like a 4 months hiatus from it.

Day 2 was written in February though. Short post are indeed much easier and more motivating to write/type as compared to heavy pictures post.

Alright, I shall not be lazy and continue with Day 3 of my Perth trip.

Hotel breakfast once again.

Food choice wasn't that different from the first day but I guess I could get used to it.

Setting off for our day tour :)

So as usual, we went to the designated place to board a shuttle bus to reach the 'bus interchange' for all the other tours.

This is the bus for our Full Day Pinnacles, Koalas & Sand Boarding 4WD Adventure by Adams Pinnacle Tour.

The bus is also the 4WD bus which require the driver and the tour coach to do some transform to the bus before getting it ready for the 4WD adventure. I will elaborate more about it in the later part of this post.

#LOTD

A #welfie of us while waiting for the bus to set off to the first destination.

We were seated at the last row in the bus.

First stop of the day - Caversham Wildlife Park.

It wasn't a long drive to the destination. Probably a 30 minutes to 45 minutes drive away from where we originally were at.

Spotted  vast of empty land while on the way there..

Finally here!

The types of animals at Caversham Wildlife Park.

So excited to be seeing them and getting up close with them :) And this it's something which we can never experience back in Singapore.

We proceed to meet and feed the Kangaroo. Actually they are baby Kangaroos haha!

So many of them roaming around.

Love the fact that the animals have so much space to move about and for visitors to get up close to interact with them. It beats better to cage them up.

Hello there Kangaroo

Derp had a go at feeding the Kangaroo first because I'm the more timid one. Just has to let him try first before he feedback to me about the experience.

The Kangaroo looks like he's shaking hand with Derp. So cute!

Okay they are still at it. The Kangaroo is not letting Derp go.

Still nom-ing away haha!

Now the Kangaroo look like he's eating his whole palm away.

Anyway, after Derp is done, it's time for me to feed the baby Kangaroo

Derp warned me about the 'feeling' that I'm going to experience. Basically, I can feel their teeth very near to my skin/palm and I have to stay calm about it.

Here's me having a go at it...

Okay I was feeling quite scared at that moment. Hard not to feel scare because I can totally feel their tooth directly on my hand. Sorry Kangaroos for making your eating experience not that good. My bad. Can tell from the above picture they had to bend very low to 'eat' their food.

I'm only able to pose properly after feeding them. Yay to successfully feeding them for the first time in my life haha.

After the feeding session, the tour guide of  Caversham Wildlife Park started to talk more about Kangaroos to us. Mainly about their life span, their body, their pouch and etc.

After which, it's time for Wombats

Actually, the Wombat is just right infront of us. Not 5km away!

Wombat sleeps a lot in the day (like any other rodents) and they can grow up to very huge size.

Here's a pic of us and the Wombat.

The Wombat is happily sleeping away haha! #likeaboss

We were being told to touch specific areas as those were the non sensitive areas. That's simply all about Wombat. I must say, a very good life rodent-like animal haha.

Last but not least, the highlight of the place is Koala Bear!

Most of the time they were sleeping away(due to their diet) so we were lucky enough to get up close with one that has just opened it's eyes.

Can't really tell he/she is awake anot haha!

One good example of koala who is sleeping away.

So close to them :)

Hello there!

The koala has just woke up hence looking very blur. And within minutes, it went back to sleep.

Though we were busy snapping photos and talking away, they can still sleep very well. They are indeed deep sleepers.

Last few pictures with the Koalas before we left the place and proceed to the next destination.

A total proof of the Koala went back to sleep right away lol.

After we left Caversham Wildlife Park, we were being brought to Lobster Shack to have our lunch.

Some more scenery pictures while on the way to the next destination...

Perth is indeed very relaxing with scenery like such :)

We had a stopover at a beach and the view is pretty scenic.

Can barely opened my eyes with the strong wind blowing so strongly.

We reached Lobster Shack slightly before lunch time. As they need time to prepare our lunch (yup they only start preparing the food upon our arrival), we were being brought to go through a short tour before eating.

It was a interesting tour, not as boring as what I initial though it will be like.

Lots of lobsters for our viewing.

They were being separated according to their weight.

It's very noisy inside because of the on going water current that's keeping the lobsters alive. And it's a indoor place hence making the whole place pretty noisy.

Close up of them.

We were each given this device to 'hear' the guided tour as we go along.

We were able to see how the staffs handle the lobsters behind the scene too.

All the bubbles/foams were to clean the lobsters if I never remember wrongly.

Last few pictures before we exit the tour area for our lunch..

And it's time for lunch! Looking forward to the yummy lobster lunch.

We upgraded this lunch before we flew over to Perth through our tour agency. Were given the option to top up a small amount of money to the overall tour price so we went ahead. No regrets as it was much cheaper to do so as compare to ordering the lobster lunch on the spot.

Were given this to present to them for our lunch.

Our lunch is served!

Looking at this picture makes me drool..

Mandatory pics before we dined in..

The lobster lunch was really yummy and filling. The lobster is huge and fleshy. The meat is very juicy and fresh.

The top up to upgrade to lobster lunch was well spent.

The 2nd last location of the tour was The Pinnacles. Kind of stoked to see a huge kangaroo footprint while we were walking around :) Probably a adult Kangaroo and it might have left the place not long ago. But oh well, they jumped really fast haha!

Huge dessert.

All of those stones behind us are natural lime stones formation.

The whole place is very big and we gave up after walking for a short while.

No idea what Derp is doing here though haha!

Found a random spot to take a self timer picture.

The place is very huge so it's not that difficult to find a spot to take nice photos with no people photobombing your picture at the background.

Another picture suggested by Derp. lol.

No idea what he trying to show though. Show us touching the rocks? :)

And here he is, acting thirsty and crawling around the dessert to find water lol.

Time for us to head back to board the tour bus to head to our last location.

Last activity of the day was Sand Boarding 4WD at Lancelin.

It does look like snow from certain angle. But this snow will never melt even in summer!

It's actually very windy/cooling despite the scorching sun. We actually didn't sweat the whole day as it was not as humid as back in Singapore The air is much more dry.

Took some photos before we board the bus for the 4WD ride

Love this photo the most ;)

The 4WD commence shortly after the bus was 'transformed'. We were on board the bus all the while and basically I will describe the whole ride as a roller coaster ride. The driver will first drive us to a high peak before 'diving' down.

We did that for a few rounds before stopping. Not all the sand around the area were suitable for this kind of activity. On and off, the driver will get down to check it out before proceeding. It was indeed very exciting.

We proceed to do Sand Boarding next. It was the most tiring thing we have done throughout the whole trip. Never expect it to be so shag though. We were each given a board to do sand boarding.

That's Derp getting ready to go down the sand on the board.

And that's me haha!

We took lots of video and I usually get stuck half way through the journey down the sand slopes. It was the climbing up that was 10 times more difficult that going down. Thighs can get really sore from doing so.

Derp went to give it a last shot before we call it a day.

And so he went to so high up. I was too tired to follow so I stay put at where I was haha.

Before he went down..

We were brought to a place to wash up and the amount of sand we had in our shoes were really impressive. Really lots of sand has gotten into our shoes.

Oh well, we can't do this activity with slippers/barefoot as it will be too dangerous haha. So be prepared for lots of sand getting into your shoes/pockets of your pants too!

Time to head back to Perth after a long day..

Sunset was so magnificent and pretty that day :)

We reached back to Perth probably around 7-8pm. It was quite late already so we decide to head back to where we had lunch on the first day, Nao's Japanese Restaurant, to settle our dinner.

I ordered the Shio Ramen.

While Derp ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen.

That's all about Day 3 of our Perth Honeymoon Trip :) Day 4 was a exciting one because we headed to Rottnest Island. The major highlight of our trip.

I hope I will get down to writing them soon! For more of my Perth travelogue, you may click here.
