Getting the Auspicious Dates for Chinese Wedding

Derp and I decided it's time to start planning for our actual day wedding since we have settled down in our new place for a month plus :) We needed the space(to diy our props) and also lots of discussion to do our planning for the actual day wedding. 

It's always good to start early but most of the time we procrastinate too much and never get anything done. 

First of all, we need a date for our actual day wedding. Without the date, we can't book the venue. 

We did thought of going ahead without looking for a feng shui master but on second thought, we realized there's feng shui master out there who give you more information for your wedding other than the auspicious dates itself. 

They can provide you 安床 date, 过大礼 date and what are the things to prepare for and procedure :) It seems like a one stop service and you just need to follow. 

Quite sometime ago, we agree on if we want to have banquet, we will do everything that's needed and try not to skip any step. The meaning of a Chinese wedding will not be there if you skip any of this. For example, no 过大礼 and no 安床but just a tea ceremony, we find it kind of weird. Hence, we decided on doing the full set since we have the time to plan. 

We can't really decide between Master Long Tian Xiang or Master David Tong. Both are really popular feng shui masters and highly recommended by many people on the internet. 

From what I find out on the internet and asking around, Master Long Tian Xiang provide you with 3 years of auspicious dates after getting your information. He will also provide 安床 and 过大礼 date in the booklet he gave you. 

As for Master David Tong, he will ask you which period of the year you are looking at to get married and he will provide you with a date. He can be easily reach by email and he's pretty young! Nothing bad about it, because I think he can relate to young people well. 

In the end, we chose to go to Master Long Tian Xiang. We will rather have a list of dates so that we can slowly decide and find our venue. Just Incase we chose a date but the the venue is already booked, at least we have other dates to work around with. 

I sms-ed him in chinese to get his quotation for counting auspicious date service, and then he will need us to provide him with groom and bride date and time of birth, groom and brides' parent's birth year. 

After a week I reply his SMS with the needed information, he did not give me a sms notification to go down to his house to get our auspicious dates, In the end, I realized he did not receive my reply (no idea what happen to his phone). So I send him the information require and that afternoon he told me he count finish the dates and we can go down to collect the booklet. 

That weekend, we travel to woodlands to his private estate. It's really very big and nice. I can't help but 'wah' in my heart about his house. His wife brought us to his 'office' in the house and he's there waiting for us. I think his 'office' space is as big as 2 of my bedrooms combine. haha! 

Firstly, he explained to ask about our 八字 and he's 90% spot on about our individual character. Then he went on telling how many 'stars' were present at the moment we were born. The 'star' also say much about our character. Totally spot on and make us dumbfounded. 

He then went on explaining how he got the list of dates. He has a recommended date for us but actually we can just use any dates in the book. provided for our wedding So he use that date as an example and them how he go about choosing 过大礼 and 安床 date. 

Basically, the list of dates he gave us, all can be used for events like ROM and moving house also. He provide us with the auspicious timing too. 

He also explain to us the essential stuffs to buy for 安床 and 过大礼. For the rest of the  stuff like pig trotters and oranges, it will depend on our dialect and tradition. He just gave us a general overview :) 

The envelope that is used to contain the booklet. All his information and address are written on it so if you're interested you can just SMS him for more information.

Derp and I personally find Master Long Tian Xiang very fatherly and he answer all our questions.

Our brain was loaded with lots of information but thankfully all the information are in the booklet, so we can always refer to it when needed. Unless for those information that can't be found inside, one can always sms/call him to ask. :) 

After 1 week of looking through the auspicious date, we have decided on our actual day wedding date! Will blog about it soon and also our journey to find the ideal wedding venue.
