Everything with Fries @ Orchard Central

It was a rare Monday date night with Derp, and that's because we went to meet the hotel coordinator to take a look at a potential banquet venue.

I was so excited about it because I really like that place that much till a point I won't mind saving up for it. As for Derp, he don't really know how it look like and couldn't imagine it after I tell him -_-". So it's best for him to go down to take a look, and I also will like to see the actual place! I have lots of questions for the hotel coordinator too.

We had a quick dinner at Everything with Fries @ Orchard Central. We initially went to Genki Sushi but there was a queue. I should not have OT and went to queue first. As we only have an hour or so left to eat before meeting the hotel coordinator, we had to find a place to faster settle our dinner.

We saw that there wasn't that much people at Everything with Fries hence we found a seat and decided to have our dinner there. We used to hang out at there really often because this used to be my favourite food during my uni days. Value for money and portion was big! No idea if the standard has drop, so we just give it a try.

                       Their menu...

Derp ordering the food :)

We kind of regretted dining there because they were really very slow in serving! No idea if they were short handed or what, but I was thinking perhaps they need time to cook so our food will be piping hot.

But to our disappointment, our burger was cold and only our fries was hot -_-".

My Pork Katsu Curry Sandwich with Curry Fries.

The portion somewhat remains as what it is when we tried it years back and also the standard of the fries does remain. But not the standard of the burger! I love their curry fries the most but I couldn't finish it.

Derp's Cheese Bacon Burger with Curry Fries.

I don't remember their burger is in this shape(not that I know of when I tried it years ago) and seems like they used the sandwich bread for the burgers too? Pheraps they have ran out of burger bread.

Each set costs around 10-13 bucks with no gst charges as everything here is self service. Except for the mains which they will deliver to you. Many students love to dine there though.

I'm quite disappointed in their service as we waited more than 20 minutes for our food to arrive on a Monday evening, and also the sandwich/burger served are all cold :(

I think this will be the last time we will be dining there unless we got no choice. I hope the Everything with Fries @ Holland Village will serves better food, afterall it's a resaurant outlet, whereas the one at Orchard Central is more towards a fast food outlet.

We quickly went to meet our hotel coordinator for the site tour. Derp and I were completely sold after visiting our one and only choice for a wedding banquet :) Seems like we do not need to hunt around anymore. We have requested for them to block the date for us till we go down to pay the deposit this coming week.

Time to plan for the big day really soon after the venue is set. Looking forward to send out the save the date for helpers, family members and then guests. So much things to do, but I know we will get there since we had more than a year to plan.

Ending this with my usual #OOTD..

Potluck & Farewell Gathering

I had my first ever potluck session at my new house and it was so much fun!

Finally I have everyone gathering at my new place for a potluck session. This gathering  serves as a farewell for the 2 of them who are going overseas for a few years. :(

Lots of food for just 7 of us! I prepare the prawn paste chicken and marmite chicken the day before!

I must say I was really stress because it smells weird when I marinate it the night before.

On the day itself when I took it out to cook it, it turns out to smell good! Phew. I was so afraid it will turn out bad because it's my first time cooking for friends/colis lol. Up till date, Derp have been my guinea pig all this time. Opps!

Bee Hoon and Curry Chicken - Lester
Old Chang Kee - Ken Min,
Sushis - Karen & Kelvin who couldn't make it at the very last minute
Jalan Kayu famous Otah - Liang Quan
Marmite Chicken & Prawn Paste Chicken - Me!

And other food that's not in the photo, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream - Cai Quan  and bottled drinks - Hazel.

So much food for the 7 of us, and indeed there's quite a bit of leftovers and everyone was damn full. I'm glad Lester help me bring home some food and my dinner was also settled that day by eating the leftovers.

A group photo before they left home..

Because KM face looks very unhappy hence I requested for a retake!

Probably the last group photo for a very long time.

I expect the group photo for the next gathering will be so pathetic with the reduce in members. They have gone to a place with different time zone. Nevertheless, we do have a lot of crazy memories at work place hahaha!

They were the ones who were the seniors/batch mates when I first joined the company, all of us sat so close to each other in the good old carefree days. Though we may be located at different area now, I'm glad that we still keep in contact :) Hoping to see the rest at my actual housewarming day.

After the left, I went to pack up and took a quick nap. I spotted this little piece of sky after I lie down on my bed. So pretty!

After I woke up from my nap, I went down to took a quick jog that evening to digest all the food I ate that afternoon. I spotted this sunset before my run. #nofilter.

I'm always feeling grateful to see such scenic views on and off in the new neighbourhood.

Looking forward to more gatherings with friends at my new place in the near future.

No doubt it's tiring to pack and clean up the whole house, Derp say it's like having some inspection lol! But at least you are motivated to pack/clean up because there's guests coming. It's always a good habit to keep the whole place clean because it's your house now, you take responsibility for it! So no complains :)

Shape Run 2014

It was my first year participating in Shape Run. It's one of those rare marathons out there, that have lots of freebies in the race pack. There's also a race tee and not forgetting a finisher medal + tee.

All these are available for all the race category so no matter you are running for 10km or 5km, you will receive all these!

What a good deal right? I regretted not joining last year hence I reminded myself to sign up for the race this year. I signed up during the early bird period and paid only $40!

The race pack collection was held at Suntec. The queue was no doubt long for the race pack collection especially during peak period, but the queue was moving fast enough :) They divided the race pack queues up into 5km and 10km runners.

A #flatlay of what's in the racepack. So many stuffs and the race tee is of a very nice bright pink color! I bought 2 more packets of Voortman biscuits. They were really yummy, I tried out all the different biscuit flavours at the race expo and decided to grab 2 packets for $5.

Fast forward to race day..

It was my earliest race to date, having to reach the starting point, Nicoll Highway, around 6+am. I've all along thought that the starting time is 7.30 am and I could slowly take train there but it's not!

It's my first time setting off from my new place to town area for a race, I'm lucky enough to flag down a cab at such unearthly hours without the need to book a cab. Derp has actually grab a taxi via grabtaxi app but it's 6 mins away. While waiting, we saw a cab that's coming in our way so we just hop on and cancelled our booking. So we saved $3 lol!

A race day #ootd before parting with Derp.

In the end, I forgot my cap is with Derp so I went to find him before heading to the starting point. On the way to the starting point, I met Karen and Kelvin who has just reached the race site too. Took the chance to take a photo before we get all sweaty and exhuasted lol.

My eyes can barely open at 6+am.

Trust me, I almost went back to sleep when my alarm clock rang that morning.

Karen and I went to stand at the starting point and wait for the flag off.

Did some warm up lead by true fitness instructor, but due to space constraint we dare not do every action as demonstrated because we could just easily whack other runners beside us.

The race flag off shortly after the warm up.

It was a slow start because of the amount of people but I took this chance to slowly pick up my pace. I try to maintain my constant pace to avoid running too fast if not I will be exhausted even before the 5km mark. That's one of the mistakes I made pretty often. I managed to grab some plain water at the first water point at the 2+km water point.

When I reached the second water point, it was very congested. I've no choice but to just run on because normally I can run 4-5 km without having any water.

But never did I know the next water point is so damn far away! There were only 3 water points hence I  endured till the last water point which is near the 8km point.

I happily thought there was water point at the F1 race pit but nope don't have! It seems like a possible place to have water point because the space is really big. Anyway. it's really cool to run pass there and I can see all the various 'garage' for the different race cars. My eyes brighten up upon running pass there and this makes me forgot how tired I am.

I passed by the 1 hour 20 minutes pacer after 1-2km of the race. I ran the first 5km with my legs and the remaining 5 km with my mind. During my normal running days, I usually only run 5km and that's the maximum because Derp don't really like me to run that much. Hence, we compromise on 5km but anyway, I don't have that much time to run more than that too.

For the remaining 5km of the race, I look forward to each distance marker. Those sundown marathon memories came back lol.

The 1 hour 20 minutes pacers were right behind me when I was into my 7km. I spotted Bobby Tonelli among them :) Oh man, I do miss those days he hosted the morning show on 987fm. With my ear plug pluck in to my ears during the race, I can still hear his voice haha! I was wondering why is there someone who can still talk so much and don't feel breathless at all lol!

They overtook me when we were nearing the last water point. Bobby Tonelli is at the most right of the photo above :) The pacers were consistently checking those around them whether are they okay and encourage fellow runners.

Thanks for the encouragement guys though I think I gave your a black face lol! My default face during marathon. It's hard to smile especially during the last few km of the race.

My mind is only filled with completing the race but who knows the last 1km of the race were full of slopes. Argh!

Derp were there cheering me on for the last few 100 meters :) He was waving at me while I make the last dash through the ending point.

A photo with my No. 1 supporter. Thank you for waking up early and go with me to the race. You know you do not have too but thanks for accompanying and waiting for me. :)

The queue for collecting the finisher medal and finisher tee were in a mess!

We were to queue according to our finisher t-shirt size. Karen told me size S and size M have the longest queue. I look at the SMS send by the organiser with regards to my shirt size (I don't remember what size I chose for the finished tee) and I realise I chose XS. Phew, a sigh of relief.

I managed to get my medal and finisher tee quickly and took train back to have my breakfast before heading back to my bed. :)

I'm glad that I've improved much as compare to my previous 10km race. I'm just 1 minute away from achieving a new personal best (which was clocked during last year GE's women run). If I've known, I will not slack that much lol! Oh well, I have this year GE and Stand Chart to beat my previous personal best.

There's nothing as impossible as long as you keep trying. #word

Below are some photos to end this long race review, picture credits to Sg Running Photos. I don't have a close up photo hence I crop those photos. My face is really very grumpy. So much for waking up so early haha!

I will still go for next year Shape(though there were few hiccups this year) because I've added it into my race list from now on. The feeling to run with all the females is indeed a different feeling and I do hope to encourage more people around me to join the race too! #girlspower :)

See you next year Shape Run, and may it be a better race in 2015!

Supply & Demand @ Orchard Gateway

I finally met up with my uni buddies after more than a year! We are all so busy with our personal life and it's not easy to meet up because 1 of us doesn't have a fix working schedule.

I met up with Darwis first to look for a dinner place before Guo Liang arrives. Darwis is the one on leave hence he's very free and can meet at any time of the day. Anyway, my workplace is near town hence I reached somerset at around 6:15pm.

We walked around Orchard Gateway and Darwis brought me to Supply & Demand. I think the whole place deco is very interesting, cafe style and the ambience seems great too. I look at the menu and everything seems good so we went in to wait for Guo Liang.

Guo Liang had a hard timing finding the place because it's at one corner of level 2. If Darwis didn't bring me to this place, I probably won't know this restaurant exists in Orchard Gateway.

The interior of the restuarant.

The 'outdoor' seats which I think it's very nice too! It's so cafe style :)

By the way, they not only serves Italian food, but many others cuisines too. We saw Thai food on their menu if I never remember wrongly. But their main specialty is still Italian food :)

We ordered a Large Salsiccia Pizza to share. It costs $22 for a large pizza and $18 for a regular pizza.

We also ordered 2 other side dishes.

Truffle fries - $15

Their truffle fries are really good. It's a must order and we see other tables ordering the truffle fries too. The best part of the truffle fries, maybe to others it may not be the best. There's fried garlics in the truffle fries. I had a good time eating it though I know people's first reaction will be "eeeekk". But it's really very nice. haha!

Another side dish we ordered which comes with lots of different types of sausages. Sausages from many different countries! I can't remember the name of it.

Last but not least, our Salsiccia pizza.

Surprisingly, we had a really filling meal and were trying to keep some space in our stomach for desserts!

Our group photo that night. :)

The food at Supply and Demand tasted not bad and affirdable. Our bill came up to $60 plus in total which means $20 per person.

The pricing of their food is affordable given the fact that we ordered quite a bit of stuffs. I was expecting the bill to came up to really high because afterall, we are in Orchard.

I give them a thumbs up to their service because they were quick in getting us seats, refilling our ice water and serving our food. We reached early hence we need not be put on their waiting list. There were people queuing for seats after we left.

They have a brunch menu too but the pricing seems on par with other cafes outside. I will definitely go back there again to try their pasta or perhaps brunch? :)

Since we hardly meetup, we hopped over to Cold Stone Creamery to have ice cream and continue our catch up session. Lots of things to talk after not meeting each other for more than a year.

3 of us shared the cookies crumble like the good old days.

Anyway, I think this picture doesn't do the ice cream any justice. I give up taking a nicer photos and just eat my ice cream before it melts!

We stayed there till 9 plus before heading home. It's been a really long time since I meet friends after work because I've been so caught up with the changes in my life. Oh well, it's a good that I squeezed out free time to do some catching up with friends, trying to achieve a balance in my life.

Seems like the next time to meet them is during Guo Liang's wedding. A buddy finally off the shelves!

Ending off with a #OOTD photo...

Hot Star Large Fried Chicken (好大大鸡排) @ Jurong Point

Every weekend, I will try to head back to visit my parents for a dinner or stayover to keep them accompany. Few Saturdays back, I was around that area and decide to treat them for dinner that evening. :)

I do miss Jurong Point especially when now there's this new Hong Kong street! The newly dim sum restaurant has a really long queue everyday and I'm so tempted la!

My mum went to try it with her colis and she told me the food is nice. I can totally see how authentic the food served by the restaurant is, with the whole set up and everything. The opening of the Hong Kong street was really grand and the famous restaurant was one of the last few stores to be up. Till date, I didn't have a chance to dine in yet but soon I hope :)

Just as I was checking out the Hong Kong street, the Hot Star Large Fried Chicken @ Jurong Point Hong Kong Street has finally opened! Why does it open after I move away from Jurong?? :(

Okay la, not that I'm a great fan of it but I think Shilin Chicken @ Jurong Point is getting more and more expensive till the extend that I've condemn it and have not patronize it for the longest possible time.

Now they have Hot Star as competitor, I hope they stop increasing their price anymore because it's getting ridiculous. And if you have realize, different branches of Shilin Chicken has a different price tag to it's fried chicken. I believe it's due to the rental costs at different places.

Oh well, I'm also glad that Hot Star open only like now if not it will really be #fatdieme. I've no idea how much exercise I need to do to burn it away.

That day, I was hunting for my late lunch but yet I don't wish to have something too heavy becuse I'm having early dinner with my parents.  I decide to pack this home to slowly munch while waiting for my parents to go for dinner together.

As I'm mentioned I'm having late lunch, hence there wasn't much queue which makes me more gian to try it.

The auntie was really friendly and asked me to go near them and slowly take a look at the menu :)

The very comprehensive menu.

Look at their bento set, it only costs $4.50 and up. Shilin Chicken @ Jurong Point has bento set and it cost $6.50. In the past, it was $5. How not to get piss off with them when they are raising price like nobody business. -_-

Freshly fried hot star large chicken.

I took the $5.90 combo meal which comes with a drink. And the drink is not small, as big as a regular bubble tea size. I had the iced lemon/peach tea. I can't really remember.

They have a wide range of $5.90 combo but I chose to go with the original flavour :) FYI, it's my first time trying Hot Star Large Fried Chicken locally. The first time I had it was in Taiwan

My Hot Star Large Fried Chicken! The chicken is so big that it's sticking out.

After trying this locally made chicken, I'm sure it taste exactly or at least 99% similar as the one in Taiwan.

At the very least, I don't feel so cheated given the fact that this piece of chicken is almost twice the price of the one in Taiwan.

When one craves for Taiwan Shilin Night Market's fried chicken, you can easily satisfy your cravings at the Hot Star outlets in Singapore :)

Coco Ichibanya @ Somerset 313

I met up with Derp for a Friday dinner date after collecting my Shape Run racepack and also some loots from Hollyhoque at Orchard Gateway. It's been awhile since we head to town!

We didn't know what to eat so we walked around the basement of Somerset 313. We tried Coco Ichibanya once at Star Vista and we remembered clearly their jap curry can be really spicy if you opt for the level 2/3 spicyness!

It seemed like the queue for Coco Ichibanya  wasn't as long compare to the other eateries out there. We gladly joined in the queue and got our seats shortly after. :)

The other time we tried level 2 and I had a hard time finishing it, while Derp was perspiring all the way.
This time we stick to level 1 haha!

My Pork Cutlet Curry.

Derp's Pork Cutlet Curry with Cheese

My friday date.

The usual mandatory shot :)

Close up shot of the pork cutlet.

I love the tenderness of their pork cutlet with the fact that the breaded skin isn't too thick, hence the overall experience of eating it is enjoyable. I find those pork cutlet with that comes with really thick crispy skin kind of disgusting. It's just my personal preference.

Anyway, the price for this plate of pork cutlet curry rice costs $13.90 if I never remember wrongly, the average price for a pork cutlet curry rice. Worth giving it a try and I dare you to try their level 4/5 curry. The maximum I can take is level 2!

Coco Ichibanya is a place I will head to if I crave for Japanese Curry and am too lazy to cook it myself  :)

Brunch @ Selegie Soya Bean Jalan Kayu

We are back to Jalan Kayu for their tau huay for our brunch date on a public holiday :)

No monday blues since there's not a need to wake up early and report to work, hence it calls for a brunch. We have only been there once due to #projectmovehouse.

This time round we took a straight bus from the bus stop opposite our place and in around 4-5 stops we reach Jalan Kayu! That's how near it is, looking forward to the day when we own our bikes *winks*

We reached pretty late and there wasn't much crowd. The person serving the customers were really very slow hence everyone is stuck there due to the slow and poor service. A big difference from the first time I went there, or perhaps they are just short handed. Sigh.

Our brunch that day. By right should have 2 you tiaos but they gave only one. :( They are really blur and got many orders wrong that day. Honestly speaking, I still prefer the tau huay at rochor road because their you tiao are piping hot and their tau huay too. I ate the you tiao first but it wasn't that hot and fresh as compared to rochor road.

But oh well, on the whole it's acceptable and good enough to have your cravings fixed.

#selfie taken while Derp was in the midst of the messy crowd getting his orders taken.

#OOTD that day which I have posted it up here before in my ootd reviews entry.

Just a short entry this time round, will be back for more :)
