Brunch @ Knots Cafe & Living

Knots Cafe and Living is soon becoming one of my most frequent cafe these days.

It's not easy to find a cafe to suit both Derp and my taste bud but this cafe is by far the only one we both are okay to go back there again and again .I've lost count of the number of times we've went there for brunch/lunch.

Love the ambiance of the cafe and not forgetting the yummy and affordable food. There's free wifi provided for the customers too so basically it's a nice place to chill.

Knots Cafe and Living is made up of 2 storey.

The cafe space is really big and there's seating spaces on both levels. This picture was taken on the 2nd level. There's tables catered for couples and also for big groups visiting the cafe.

Since it was free seating, we actually roamed around the whole cafe first to take a look at the decoration and furniture before ordering our food. FYI, all the furniture in the cafe are for sale :)

There were cakes on sale just next to the counter. I spot my favorite rainbow cake but I didn't get them though.

More pics of the cafe below..

They also sell fresh flowers :)

Various plants up for grab too at the cafe.

We went there for late lunch on our first trip there and here's what we ordered..

Macaroni and Cheese - $8.90, Carbonara - $11.90

Both mains were yummy and of affordable price.

The main reason (other than checking out their furniture and home decor items) we went there is this..

Matcha Waffle with Ice Cream - $12.50

It's our first time having Matcha Waffle and we love everything Matcha :) The ice cream we chose was salted caramel ice cream with chocolate sauce.

Overall, the food was good which was the main reason we kept going back there for brunch/lunch whenever we are in that vicinity :) Food was served to us quickly after we have ordered so there's nothing much to complain about!

We went back there again not long later  but this time round was for brunch...

Very filling brunch and it cost $30+ for all of this. Totally worth it!

Highly recommend one to give this cafe a try if you are in that area :)

Kotobuki Coffee @ Wisma Atria

Few months ago, I chanced upon the beautiful Musical Sakura Latte Festival offered by Kotobuki Coffee. Basically it's the beautiful looking dessert/high tea set which caught my attention.

So I decided to ask Kris out for a lunch and at the same time try this pretty dessert set :) Glad that I have like-minded cafe hoping friends around me. It's not difficult to find a date for such purposes because we all love exploring new cafes!

#OOTD for the day :)

Kotobuki Coffee is located at Wisma Atria

We were there for late lunch so there weren't much people. I was there slightly early than Kris so I went to take some photos while waiting for her :)

This was available for the kids set.

Seems like the cafe not only cater for ladies who love pretty stuff, but also family friendly for those with kids. They have set for kids and these cute pokemon gacha balls for purchase :)

The main reason why we are here for. The musical carousel is very pretty indeed!

The menu for the sakura latte festival.

The cute kids set.

We ordered 1 mains to share so that we each can have our own dessert later on.

We chose the Katsu Curry Rice because it can't go wrong.

Anyway, there was a miscommunication and they served the desserts first before the mains. I was totally shock when they do that though. But oh well, they did apologize to us. I had to ask them to put the mains on hold and serve it later because they let us sit at such a small table.

Even though it was our mistake for not reminding them but I would at the very least expect them to either ask us or just assume that it should be serve the desserts after the mains.

Alright, enough of my ranting. More pics coming up!

My pretty Sakura Roll and Matcha Latte.

Taking the mandatory shot before eating.

You can totally see there's no table space left so I had to warned them not to serve the main first.

My lunch date :)

A welfie of us both before we start digging in to our cake and coffee.

The food served here was not bad. The Matcha Latte was on point, and the Sakura Roll taste more like vanilla cake with a slight tinge of flowery smell/taste ( I believe that's the Sakura). Very instagramable but not to the extend of very yummy food.

Overall the experience was good but the food was not that fantastic to the extend of us wanting to go back for the 2nd time.

Day Trip to JB: KTM Train to JB Sentral, Tokyo Secret Cheese Tarts

Derp and I took an impromptu trip across the borders few months ago to run some errands.

We decide to take the KTM train instead of the usual bus because the review for the train was good.

It cost slightly more expensive than taking public bus but it was all worth it to skip the jam :) Save lots of time too!

Prior to the trip, we purchased our tickets online from here. Tickets were sold out really fast so it's all about faster finger first and plan your trip way in advance!

We arrived at the train station 1/2 hour before the departure time. It was recommended to arrive early because we have to exchange our 'print out' tickets for the actual ticket before boarding.

Queue was expected at the ticket counter as there were people purchasing their tickets on the spot too.

Exchange our print out tickets for this tickets given to us at the ticket counter.

We took a short walk to cross the custom and in no time, we were seated in the train to wait for the train to move.

A #welfie of us in our virgin train ride to JB Sentral.

The train didn't depart on 12pm 'sharp' though and I remember it only depart around 12:15pm or so. People were still making their way to the train after the scheduled depature time.

Guess we were the kiasu ones who boarded the train real early because we were really afraid to miss the train haha!

It was the most a maximum of 5 minutes train ride to reach JB Sentral and we were totally impressed by how fast and fuss free it was. We sat on comfortable seats all the way and reached JB Sentral in the fastest possible way. Totally understand why the train tickets were snap up so quickly everytime!

Once the train reached JB Sentral, there's not a need to scan/chop passport again so one can head straight to their destination. We head to City Square Mall straight which is a short walk located away from the train station. Much nearer compare to coming from the bus station.

We decide dine in at Kurotomon Ramen Sumitaki for our lunch. Other than ordering their ramen, we also ordered their BBQ Sotong/Squid.

Taste good though but we will definitely prefer Sambal Sotong instead of just BBQ Sotong.

I've reviewed the ramen before previously at here so I shall not go into it :)

We went to run our errands right after our lunch and before leaving. we went to have high tea/dessert at Miyakori Cafe. I've previously reviewed this cafe before too and you may read more about it here.

Matcha Latte and Matcha Azuki Cake :)

Around 4pm or so, we decide to make our way to the train station once again. There's already a queuing forming for the train. We went to exchange our 'print out' once again before joining the queue at around 4:30pm or so.

Tickets back to Singapore.

If you've noticed, it's RM5 dollars for the return tickets back to Singapore whereas it's SGD5 dollars for the tickets to JB Sentral.  So it cost less than SGD7 dollars in total.

Waiting for our train to depart to Singapore.

As usual, it didn't depart on time at 5pm. Probably delay for another 10-15 mins or so. We cleared the custom very swiftly too and we were out of the train station by 5:30pm!

Bought back cheese tarts from Tokyo Secret from JB City Square Mall to give it a try...

Due to poor handling by us, some of the cheese tarts crust has already fell off. Opps! But they still taste as good. They have other flavour of cheese tarts like Matcha and Chocolate so it was kind of refreshing and definitely yummy!

No regrets buying them back though because they were cheaper than the cheese tarts sold here in Singapore :)

That's all about my short trip to JB City Square. We will definitely opt for train ride to JB in the near future because it save so much time as compare to taking bus/driving in :)
