My New Flat: Starting the Renovation

After months of planning with our ID(all the to and fro emails), getting the contractor for our bto project to rectify the problems, the renovation has finally started!

My advise to everyone out there is to start planning at least 1/2 year in advance before getting your keys, especially if you are those who can't make up your mind easily. For Derp and I, we made up our mind qyute fast hence the whole process isn't so painful for everyone. We are quite 随便 haha!

We started planning last year Oct/Nov, so it's 2 months prior to keys collection and 4 months prior to renovation.

The rectifying process by hdb appointed contractor took up quite a lot of time. We had them to re-do one of the defects because it wasn't properly done on the first time.

After my renovation date was set (my dad went to get a auspicious time and date for me), I had to chase after the contractor every day to check on the rectifying progress. I basically called them up everyday. Derp and I even went down during lunch time to sort of 'chase' them and tell them how they have made 1 problem become even worse.

We asked them to remove some white stains on the flooring in the masterbedroom, and it's so suay that all the stains are near the door. If it was somewhere inside we won't really be bothered because it will be covered up by bed or the wardrobe.

One of the tiles got worse after the rectifying process..

Top photo is the before rectifying process and bottom is the after rectifying process. Notice that few dark stains on my parquet! It got worse after rectifying. -_-". We went down to settle this a week before our renovation and the contractor said that they will repaint that particular tile.

In the end, they decided to replaced the tile instead. The tile and the rest of the tiles around it is slightly uneven now, the HDB contractor say they will come up after our renovation is done to settle it then. We shall see. I mean at least they finally resort to changing the tile, it's better than nothing! But still, we are quite pek cek with them. Why can't they just do 1 shot nicely for us? -_-"

I'm glad that my new place is around 20 minutes bus ride from my work place, so during lunch/after work I can go down to feedback to the incharge. They closed at 7pm.

After all the hoo-ha with the HDB contractor, the renovation successfully started! Phew!

On March 15th, we started our renovation around 10am. The auspicious time is before 11am. I reached there around 9:30am because I've to open the door for them, Mei Yee, my ID, passed us another master key for the padlock on that day which will be used to lock the house up during the whole renovation period.

When I reached, I spotted this outisde. The protective sheets! I did quite a bit of hacking of of walls for the house so protective sheets is a MUST!

I didn't spot the worker around and Mei Yee have not reached yet. After I pack the house a little (keep everything into bomb shelter), I went to the McDonald opposite to get my breakfast. It's my first time going there on a Saturday morning, the queue for the McDonald was really long! I think by the time I'm done, my ID and the worker will probably be waiting for me outside the house for 1/2 hour.

In the end, I just got myself a muffin and ice latte from McCafe before heading back to the house again.

If you are wondering where's Derp, he went for his basketball training and reached around 11am.

When I reached back the house, I saw the worker outside already. So I opened the door for him and he started his work swiftly even before my ID came. Thumbs up! I really feel quite lost because Mei Yee was late, but I remained calm haha! As long everything goes on smoothly, I'm good. :)

He started laying the protective sheets in the Masterbed room.

My muffin from McCafe!

There were 4 stools in the new house hence I grab one and have my breakfast while waiting for the rest of the people to come. My electrician also came down to discuss lighting point with my ID, so that the carpentry works/ceiling works are to accommodate to the wires/trunking and vice versa.

The hardworking one laying the protective sheet on a Saturday.

Mei Yee telling him which are the things to hack. And that's a axe sign lol!

As no hacking is allowed on the weekends, he used his hammer to hack a small area of the wall to signify the start of renovation.

The discussion with my ID and the electrician ended around 11 plus. Derp and I went off to have our lunch.

Finally the renovation has started! Another thing off our mind. The feeling is great! But we definitely have more things to worry about now, more things to source for and the deadline is before the renovation ends. Alot of stuffs will require the contractor to help us fix it up.

That night, we headed to Ikea. After several trips to Ikea, this time we finally got the stuffs needed for our new house and paid for it! :) We shopped at there till 10++pm! Thank god they close at 11pm. We only started our shopping around 8pm. But we were very clear what we have to get, so it's just hunting them down and putting it into our trolley.

Our loots! But not the complete loots because we were waiting for more mirrors!

A selfie with my new mirror!

After payment, we went to settle the delivery and we are done! The items arrive last Friday and my ID collected it for us :) I've always think that my ID is our nanny/manager, she's definitely doing more than what a ID should.

She helped us handle quite a lot of things, especially when my electrician screw up some stuff last week! Derp and I were both busy at work, we have no time to go down in the middle of the day to see what exactly happen. Will blog more about it, it's all resolve now thanks to my ID! It's not her fault but she did all she can to help us settle the problem, afterall we are the ones who engage the electrician. The electrician is not under her company sub contractor.

Looking forward to see how my house look like when everything is done! :)

Outfits Reviews

My first outfit review after nearly 2 months or more than that. This shows that I've not been buying much, self controlled achieved hahahaha! But I know at times I'll still pampered myself so as to ease my brain from all the renovation stuffs. I know you must be thinking what a way to relieve my stress haha!

1) Flap Detailing Spaghetti Dress from Hollyhoque

Nth special to talk about, love how simple it is. Didn't do a review of this dress on BOS. Other than the dress is a little too short for me (shorts is defintely needed), other than that it's really fine. Probably good for a beach getaway with your bikini and shorts inside :)

Got it during their flash sales! And it costs me total of $25 hehe!  More reviews up here

3) Carey Floral Dress from Gingerbelle

I'm so into prints nowadays so everything below is nth but prints. I've actually wore it quite a few time but this is a nicer #OOTD of it. Took it when I went down to my new house :) Love the quality too and the review are up here!

4) Richelle Romper from Love Bonito

Needless to say, a flatering max romper. It's super comfy too but sad to say, the outer layer shrunk after first wash. It's been complain by quite a lot of customers. It happen to me too! I might need to alter it if not the inner lining will be showing out and it will be so ugly, Review up here.

4) Etsy Dress from My Glamour Place

I just received it last week. Love the prints but the PTP is too big for me. Hence, I let it go the next day I got it. No idea if backorder will open soon, but if you are interested you can read the review here.

Oh and nowadays MGP dresses doesn't really suit me cause of their wider ptp cutting compared to other blogshops' clothes. I've been having such problems since their CNY collection.

4) Eden Garden Frock from My Glamour Place

Last but not least, my latest loot from fairbelle. Love the prints a lot and wore it out straight after I received it in my mail box. The link for the review is up here! I wrote on my review about another blogshop which sells the exact same dress at a much cheaper price. :)

Alright that's all for now! Till the next review..

7 Inch Square Pizza @ IMM, Saboten Express @ IMM

It was yet another weekend that we have to go do some surveying/sourcing for items for our new house. Nowadays our weekends are all about these! Tiring as it may sounds, but  it's once in a life time experience. The passion might not be there if you buy the 2nd flat.

So we have come to learn to enjoy it because we have learned many new things. Those stuffs that we would never come across at work or in school.

My #OOTD that day. A old top from My Glamour Place which I wore during this year CNY. :)

We headed to Furniture Mall and also IMM since they are nearby to take a look at furniture/lightnings and other essentials. We had to confirm some measurements since some measurements weren't recorded down when we buy it that time.

We had our tea break after walking for a few hours. We decided to try out 7 inch pizza @ IMM. We were actually looking for drinks and some small bites and then we come across this. There was really lots of flavours for the pizza and we had a hard time choosing it. At the end of it, we chose to try the Sambal Prawn flavour pizza

The packaging. As the name suggests, all their pizza are 7".

It looks really cute with a pawn on each piece. If I'm not wrong, it costs around $5 for each pizza. Btw, their pizzas are all thin crusts so fret not that you will feel too full after eating it. They have slice it nicely so it serves as a good to go snack.

The sambal prawn flavour is actually so-so. Perhaps, pziza still taste better when it's in Hawaiian flavor? haha!

We wanted to go IKEA but it was pretty late after we shopped finish and have a tea break at IMM. We actually bought something heavy from IMM so we didn't wish to drag the whole thing to IKEA.

We settled our dinner after walking around for a short while at Saboten Express. The queue was slowly forming. The other time I came to IMM with my parents, I've already spotted this shop. It's selling my favourite Japanese curry and I have the chance to try it that day. hehe!

Both of us ordered the Loin Katsu Curry Set. It costs $16.90 per set.

It comes with pretty lots of things. The salad and dessert was really good. The salad was mixed with Japanese sesame salad dressing (At the top right hand corner which you have to pour into your salad yourself.. My favorite salad dressing of all times!

Honestly speaking, I don't really like the meat. Cause it's quite fatty. haha! I would prefer my katsu to be more lean instead. Though I must say the meat is really juicy and crispy on the outisde, but it will be better with less fatty meat :) I ended up scrapping off all the fatty parts.

I shall attempt to cook my own pork katsu curry don in the near future! :) But I've no idea where to find the katsu yet but it would be great if I master it.

ROM Gown Fitting @ The Louvre Bridal

So it's been almost a month since I'm married, and now I am going to start blogging about my ROM preparation :)

One fine day last year, we made an appointment with The Louvre Bridal after inquiring via email about their ROM packages. They did reply a estimated package which we think is reasonable so we decided to drop by and give them a visit. Anyway, they only accept appointment and not walk in.

It was also the day I chose my proposal ring and within a day we signed up for the bridal package. I know, we are fast decision maker. We are definitely not those who go around comparing price and then take another few weeks to think about it. We would rather close the case asap and move on with other more important stuffs.

I always believe in dropping by the bridal studio a visit when you sign up their package, so you can always take a look at the gown/suit they have in their collection. Hence, we didn't go for any roadshow to get good deals.

What's the point if they sweet talk you and at the end of the day you don't like their gown? I'm pretty particular about the gowns actually, I prefer gowns that are clean and white be it for actual day or photoshoot. I know some bridal studios give you the 'lousier' gowns for photoshoot because they are meant to be drag on sand/whatsoever, and usually photoshoot are taken from a far and you can't really tell from the photo it's a old gown. 可是穿的人会不舒服的!

The Louvre Bridal have assured me that their gown are all new and in top notch condition. They don't keep their gown more than 2 years, and all their gowns can be chose for photoshoot/actual day.

Btw, I've been stalking their facebook page at least for a year before deciding to choose them. They are still my top choice after we drop by 1 or 2 other bridal studios. We took up their photoshoot and ROM package. They cater to what we need and then set us a price. :) They were having a joint collaboration wedding show at some hotel the next day, so they throw in the perks/price they are going to have for those couples who sign up with them the next day.

*Fast forward to 1 month before the ROM*

It was our first ever gown/suit fitting. We spent a total of less than 2 hours there and we are done :) All thanks to the professional guidance by them! I do drag long hours of fitting because at the end of the day, you might just anyhow choose! What's the point?

First, We were to look through at the various fresh flower bouquets they have done before. Not forgetting to ask me what type of flowers I like, and also the colours and etc. I do love how my bouquet turn out in the end :) The kind florist even throw in corsages for the parents for us. It was complimentary. So kind of them!
After we are done with the flowers, we actually started with Derp's suit first. He tried a total of 2 suits.

I didn't take photo of the first suit he tried, which is a black suit. I do realize guy's stuff are always so boring haha! Next moment, our coordinator took out this blue suit for him. We went like O.O! I mean at least is something different from the boring black, white, grey suit. We have seen too much of those especially when we went BKK to tailor suits/formal wear. Derp was quite hesitant to try in the first place, and he gave in at last haha! I kept telling him it's his favourite color.

I did adjust the lightnings of the photo because they were using warm light at their place.

:) Something unique.

Not much amendments needed for him, only that the blazer need to be adjust tighter at the waist area. Derp's mum actually commented his suit is very korean lol! Afterall, our bridal studio is going towards the korean concept type of gown and suits. This suit is from their very latest collection and they willingly let us try :):)

After Derp tried his 2 suits, we can't really decide which suits is better for him. So we went ahead for my gown fitting then.

I told them I do not want any halterneck/tank top type of short gown. I don't have in mind what type of short gown I will want to be in for my ROM. I already know what I want for my photoshoot but not the ROM. So they took out a total of 3 gowns for me to try. They actually took out more but some of them I see already, it's a straight 'no' to that gown.

This is the first gown I tried. If he were to choose the black suit, I will be wearing this then to match his black suit. I do love the ruffles and sweetheart cutting. Nth much to talk about other that it's super new and white!

This gown will probably match his blue suit too cause of the sash. However, I don't think I suit this kind of classic boring gown so it was an immediate cross for this gown. This is the last gown I tried, but it's not as outstanding as the 2nd gown I've tried.

Hereby presenting to you, the final gown that I've chose.

I love the blings and also the feather bottom haha! It's a gown that I hardly see around, at least not the boring usual type. It's also from their latest collection! When I walked out of the fitting room, my coordinator went like wow! And I knew I had to wear this because the wow factor is there.

I do love the back details too..so bling!

It's a corset back all the way till the ass area. And yup, you can imagine how they have to help me tie and untie everytime I try and take out haha! Best part of the gown, it's bling all the way at the back!

Sorry for the bony back view, I've been telling Derp, I think that's my back muscles and not bones. He can't help but to roll eyes at me.

The gown may look tight but trust me it's actually very comfortable. Not much adjustment needed for the gown except the hook at the back is adjusted to tighten even more so that the dress won't fall. As for the rest of the dress, it's all about tie-ing :) Only the top part is secured by a hook.

:)

Glad that they let us take photos freely when we are there because I know some bridal studio don't allow.

We were done within 2 hours for our fitting and we went to hunt down our shoes then. I'll be posting up more updates of the ROM preparation and the ROM day itself soon! Receiving my photos really soon and hope that it turns out well!

I'm definitely looking forward to the photo shoot fitting in a month time! Time to get fitter/toner/slimmer. Fighting!

Song Fa Bak Kut Teh @ Clarke Quay

I finally had a chance to try Song Fa Bak Kut Teh @ Clarke Quay! I'm pretty much influenced by Derp and fell in love with bak kut teh few years back. We only love those white peppery type of bak kut teh and not the herbs/spices black soup type of bak kut teh. We have been a huge fan of Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh. Up till now, we are constantly in search of bak kut teh which are even nicer/on par with Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh :)

We headed over to Song Fa Bak Kut Teh @ Clarke Quay for dinner when our solemnization is over. Time to celebrate because we have finally cleared one milestone and move on :) As full as we may be, we can't bear to leave the place we had stayed for 3d2n without having to try this famous bak kut teh.

We wanted to go on the day before our solemnization which is Saturday. The queue was really long so we gave it a missed. Oh well, we had to turn in early that night so no choice but to postpone it till after our solemnization then. On Sunday, there was a queue but certainly not as long as it was on Saturday evening time.
They have 2 branches in Clarke quay and relatively near to each other, or should I say just next door. We randomly just join 1 of the faster moving queue. But actually if the other branch has seats, they will direct customers over to another branch too.

Pretty crowded on a Sunday night too

They have many staffs and they are efficient. In terms of service, they are on par with Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh.

I did took a photo of the menu but accidentally deleted it. But I agar remember the price of the Bak Kut Teh. If I'm not wrong, it costs $6.50 for a bowl of bak kut teh. Pretty reasonable and standard price for a bowl of bak kut teh. There's many other types of bak kut teh like those which comes with premium meat but that will defintely costs more.

Their soup are refillable which I kind of expected it from established Bak Kut Teh stall.

Our feasts!

We ordered braised pig's intestines as our side dish. I do love how chewy and juicy it is haha. I know it may sounds gross to those who don't love eating the internal organs of animal.

Their preserved salted vegetables are also a popular dish but we never ordered that. Kind of regretted that we didn't ordered it because they looked really good and everyone in the restaurant are having it.

In terms of soup base, we still prefer Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh because it's more peppery. Nevertheles, Song Fa Bak Kut Teh is definitely a quick fix to satisfy your craving of bak kut teh and it's easily located and much more accessible as compared to Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh.

Venus Run 2014

It's my first ever Venus Run. This is my third time running in a all women race :)

The race pack collection was held at City Square Mall. We were allowed to choose the time slot and date that we wished to collect our race pack. I've always think that such method is brilliant so as to prevent race pack collection to lasts an hour or so.

It took me no longer than 10 minutes to collect the race pack. *thumbs up*

Me with the Love Bonito's recycle bag. I do think it's quite chio though. Gonna come in handy cause it's really big! *auntie mindset*

All the stuff inside the race pack.

The main highlight of the run was the newly launch x-bionic running gear. I'm quite surprised to know that the top and bottom originally costs like nearly 100? I went like wow! It sounds like some really powerful running gear, but till date I have not wear it for a run yet.

The top is alright for me but not the pants. Will be better if I've gotten the pants in a bigger size. Shall try wearing this top for a run soon because it's said to convert sweat to energy! I shall see..

The race was held on 8th of March 2014, International Women's Day. It was an evening run which starts at 5pm. I only came to realise on the week itself, there's no free shuttle bus to the venue, Marina Barrage. It's either I got to cab/walk from mrt station/take bus 400.

That morning I went for my abt lessons, so it's a full day of exercise for me. #tireddieme It's like exericse in the morning for 1 hour, came home lunch, bathe and change into another sports attire and off I go for the 5km marathon.

Karen was there early to queue for bus 400 and the queue was really long. And nope, the frequency of the bus didn't increase at all. That's the least that I hope for if they wanted us to take public transport. I wanted to chup in the queue but I do feel bad because many others were behind, the bus driver saw us too and ask us to go behind. In the end, 4 of us share a cab there since it's really near and we reached the starting point just before 5pm.

At the starting point waiting for flag off.

The sun was really glaring, I'm glad I brought my cap along and wore it. I didn't wear the X-Bionic tee but instead I wore something different so Derp can identify me easily :)

He was really sick last week (even up till now he's still sick) but he took out 1 hour to accompany me for my run. Thanks love! If not I'll have no one to help me carry my stuff while I go for my run, I will need to head to the baggage deposit then. :S Anyway, it's just 5km run, he know I won't take that long to be back. The flag off was on time and there was only one wave.

The most challenging part of the race was to run up Marina Barrage. It wasn't my first time running that route, I've ran that route around 4 times. I've ran up Marina Barrage once last year, it was torturing enough. This time under the hot sun, it's even worse. Marina Barrage used to be such a romantic/relax place, after all this marathons, I took at it differently.

There was only 1 hydration point. It was right before that horrible slope. I would be glad if there's another water point after coming down from the slope.

The race was overall not bad. :) It was well organized at the very least.

With Karen after the race. :)

The unique medal which I don't think it's nice at all and my bib!

Some photos below..

Tired max face after running up the slope. Picture credit to Running Shots.

Picture credits to Kelvin. He took this back view of me and this was after the slope. LOL!

I manage to spot myself after quite sometime, it was really not clear but it does helps when you wear a different top from the others. This finisher pic captured by Running Shots too.

A photostory before..

Never give up because no matter how slow you are, you will get to the finisher point in no time.

별에서 온 그대/ My Love from the Star / You Who Came from the Stars

Over the past one week, I'm so caught up with the show: 별에서 온 그대/My Love from the Star / You Who Came from the Stars. I finally completed watching it over the weekends. It's been months since I can enjoy catching up on my shows on a weekends! Doing nothing the whole day except to load shows lol! Defintely something to rejoice about. :):)

The last show that I went crazy was Triumph in the Skies II. a Hong Kong Drama. I can't believe that I went crazy over drama again because as I grow older, I start to find those tragic love story not my genre anymore. Not to mention, those draggy crying show too.

Most of the time, I realise I didn't watched finish all the episodes of a drama unless the particular drama is worth watching. #signsofageing I used to watch shows that are draggy/emo max in the past. #fact

Anyway if you are wondering what's the storyline, it's actually about an alien who landed on earth 400 years back, he saved one little girl at that point and the girl died cause of him. 388 years later, the exact same looking girl appeared again and she almost died in a car accident. He went to save her again. Fast forward 12 years later, which is the year the alien supposed to leave earth and go back to his planet, he came to know the girl who he saved 12 years ago, is staying next door to him. And they eventually develop feelings for each other but it's time for the alien to go back to his planet..

Okay I shall not spoil your story. You go watch yourself haha! I think my synopsis is not bad lol!

The female lead in the show is Jun Ji-Hyun, also known as Cheon Song Yi in the show. She acted in My Sassy Girl before. I didn't recognize her only until my colleague tell me. I love that movie a lot too because it made me laugh and cry so hard. It's a old school all time favourite movie!

Source: Nemopan

Love this photo of her!

I do think her sacrifices is really really huge in the show because she ugly-fiied herself max max! All the crazy and stupid things she did make me laugh so hard. I think people will think I suffered from split personality last weekend, one moment I'm laughing and next moment I'm tearing. -_-".

Source: Facebook

One of the scenes whereby my tears just drop. Go watch it and you will know why!

The male lead in the show is Kim Soo-Hyun, also known as Do Min Joon in the show. Frankly speaking, I didnt even see or hear about him before though he appear on Running Man not too long ago.I didn't really notice him in Running Man and the best part is, I was surprised he got such a perfect body hidden below his clothes hahaha!

His body doesn't really match his face (Maybe it's in the show only because he dress up really decently), no offence to his fans out there. But I guess nowadays all the korean stars have to had such a body. It's like a criteria to be famous anyway. So it's like gym gym gym and no fatty food for them. Oh and he's same age as me! #majordiscovery

I'm so going to do this with Derp when I go Korea hahaha! And Derp agreed to it :)

Ending of with my favourite quote in the show, cause I think it's damn true.

"'Goodbye' is something you say in advance. When the end really comes, you can't say things like 'goodbye'" -Do Min Joon-
