Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2016

So here I am, finally getting down to writing the last race of 2016 :) I guess it didn't took me that long since it's April now? Okay actually will be entering May in few days time so I did took quite a few months to get this post up.

SCMS 2016 was my 8th and also last race of 2016.

Back to the running streak after being not so active at it in 2015 due to wedding preparation and etc.

It definitely feels good to be actively involved in races once again.

Skipped a year of SCMS so this was the 2nd time running SCMS. Credits to my company for the free race slot so here I am joining the race once again.

My company give out limited free race slots every year (on a first time first serve basis) and I do pray it continue this way.

#flatlay of my race gear for the last race of 2016

Derp and I reached there slightly early to secure a parking slot as SCMS have always been the biggest race of the year, which also meant lots of people participating in the race.

While waiting to the starting line, we spotted this group of cosplayers.

The sunrise was breathtaking that very day.

Everyone was busy snapping lots of photo with the beautiful sunrise.

A #welfie taken with the sunrise at the background.

Pre-race mandatory shot

More pics taken while waiting for the race to flag off. This was by far my favorite sunrise shot so far ;)

We waited till the sun was fully out before we finally passed the starting line.

There were many waves as usual and we were probably in the 4th/5th batch.

Almost reaching the starting line after what seems like forever, and the clouds were so beautiful that morning!

The race route was different from the previous years due to the change in organizer.

I would say the new 10km route is better and it wasn't as human congested as compare to the previous year that I've joined. Nothing much to complain about with sufficient water points.

My body condition that day was way better than during GEWR 2016 hence I was few mins off from my personal best timing.

More post race pics below..

#selfie with the last medal of the year! It's finally over :)

Sweaty us with our medals.

Yay to completing the last race of 2016 :)

Unofficial result

I took more than 1 hour 20 minutes for my previous SCMS so this was definitely an improvement.

Not forgetting we actually ran for more than the stated 10KM.

We waited for Derp's Brother and his wife (my BIL and SIL) to finish the race and took a finisher pic with them then.

All the medals collected in 2016.

Only showing 7 medals here because I forgot to include the  New Balance Run 2016 medal.

Opps! Totally forgot about it.

There were quite a few nice looking official pic from the race but the one below is my favourite.

Because buying the official race photos was way too expensive so this was the best I can get.

That's all for my 2016 races. It has been a good race year. And I hope in 2017, it will be a even better race year with better timing :)

Guksu Korean Restaurant @ Suntec

Met up with Kai Ting once again for a weekday dinner date :) We had Korean food this time round and she was the one who recommend this restaurant to me.

Having been to Suntec so many times, I actually never notice the existence of this restaurant because they lump a few Korean restaurants together. I've always ate Japanese ramen when in Suntec (they do have fantastic ones! Especially the one with free flow beansprout and hardboiled egg) so this was the first time I ate Korean food at there.

The entrance of the restaurant. This was taken after we left so there wasn't much people left in the restaurant. The restaurant was almost fully packed when we were dining in there on a weekday evening.

Customers can help yourself to free flow of appetizers from the appetizers bar. The appetizers were so yummy and taste truly authentic. Taste different from the usual ones.

We ordered the Korean Fried Chicken for sharing because Kai Ting highly recommend it haha!

3 Pieces of Soy Drumsticks - $11.50

They weren't small at all hence the price of it is slightly on the higher end. It taste really good!

We ordered Budae Jjigae for our mains.

Budae Jjigae - $38.90

The Budae Jjigae has so many ingredients in it! Yummy!

It has been quite sometime since I last had this at home (homemade version recipe here) even though it's actually not difficult to prepare. But probably more enjoyable if there's more people to share with us haha!

Okay I do think we over ordered lol! I was the one madly craving for Budae Jjigae and Kai Ting kindly agree haha! Even though I think she prefer to eat something else but they were only available for lunch and not dinner.

We added in the gochujang sauce oursevles, bit by bit to test the spiciness as both of us are not very good at eating spicy food haha. Slight to medium spicy level is bearable for us though.

#welfie of us in the restaurant.

Kai Ting introduced me to the Snapchat app over the dinner.

Okay I know I'm slow lol! I've came across this but I didn't really take notice about it. To me, it's just another social media app which means 1 more account to maintain. I think Instagram, Facebook and Dayre is good enough for me so I'm not interested to maintain a Snapchat account.

However, what caught my attention was the filters that Snapchat has. Got addicted to it after trying it haha!

This was one of the first few shots I took. This filter is probably the most widely used one haha!

After the meal, we left the restaurant and went round to take more photos.

One normal shot before spamming the Snapchat filters.

Because I do find them well taken, so I shall upload all of them here haha!

Can see the Suntec's Xmas deco in the background of our #welfie haha. There wasn't any nice deco around Suntec though so got to make do with it.

As the very next day is a working day, we bid goodbye after spamming photos. Will definitely love to go back to this Korean restaurant one of these days to have their fried chicken again :)

MasterCard Theatres @ Marina Bay Sands, DC Comics Super Heroes Cafe

Derp and I had a chance to watch a movie at the MasterCard Theatres @ Marina Bay Sands thanks to my MIL who was a member. She's entitled to a pair of tickets which she kindly gave to us.

We were there early to collect the tickets because the seats were on first come first served basis. But actually we do realize there's not a need to (I'll write more later one).

We had lunch with my MIL and then we had some time to kill before the movie starts.

Walked around MBS and spot this xmas tree!

Mandatory #OOTD shot

#welfie of us

We went to the entrance of the Master Card Theatre to wait to enter the theater. There was lots of people and the waiting area is quite big actually. There were stalls selling snacks/drinks but I don't think I spot popcorn? After all, this is not a 'cinema' so it kind of lose out to the normal cinema.

Probably more suitable for those musical kind of show or concert.

In the theater :)

There wasn't any commercial or whatsoever before the movie start. The theater was MUCH bigger that we expected hence there wasn't a need for us to choose seats that were way too back. Or rather, it's better if you sit closer to the theater screen.

But anyway, Lulu the movie was awesome! Had a good laugh throughout the movie.

Derp and I went to have some dessert to kill time before we head off to somewhere again. Initially, we were all set on High Society but we got distracted after we went to the top floor and saw DC Comics Super Hero Cafe

DC Comics Theme Ice Cream on sale.

A variety of cakes which tempt us to have our dessert/high tea there.

More cakes!

The beverage menu.

So here's what we ordered...

The Joker Rainbow Cheese Cake

Probably the most instagram worthy cake. Can't remember how much it cost but all I remember was it's not cheap at all. If my memory never fail me, it cost more than $10 or slightly less than $10.

No cake is complete without coffee!

Clark Ket's Capuccino - $6.90

The coffee was not bad even though it was overpriced. As for the rainbow cheesecake, it totally taste weird. Taste like bubble gum cake to me probably because of the rainbow flavored in it. Should have just stick to the convention cheesecake, at least it won't go wrong.

I felt that the cafe is overrated and not worth the hype due to the highly over priced food. In my opinion, it's only worth going once to have the experience of it will be suffice.

Great Eastern Women's Run 2016

Has it been my 4th year joining the GEWR?! No idea where did all the time go to because it's my 4th time joining GEWR. Glad to be able to join GEWR for 4 consecutive years and this is one of the race which I will continue running till old haha.

I still very much preferred all female races as compare to other local big races because the welfare are always better :) From the race $$ to the race pack collection and actual day welfare, they will always be the best!

Race pack collection was held at Marina Square.

Though the queue is long, but it was moving fast enough as there were many counters available.

As usual, lots of items in the goodie bag :)

Flag off was as early as 6:30am that morning for the 10km category.

Pic taken before heading to the race pen. The sky is still dark at that point of time.

Beautiful sunrise which greeted the 10km runners while waiting for flag off...

Flag off was as scheduled and the race went on smoothly. This year race route was slightly different from past year.

Scenic view that morning..

Good Sunday Morning!

I was feeling/doing good for the first 5km of the race. However, my body start to turn to the downside after that. Probably due to the lack of sleep the night before which in turn result in poor race condition. So do keep in mind that rest is very important before any race!

It was a struggle to complete the race so it became a run-walk, run-walk routine till I finished the race. Personal best was no longer important but listening to my body has became a priority then.

At the end of the day, there will always be other races to aim for a personal best :)

Derp was waiting for me at the last few hundred meters (as usual).  This was taken by him haha!

The 4th GEWR medal.

Yay to safely complete the race :)

With my number 1 supporter who have support me through this 4 years of GEWR

Some pics from the official media and running shots..

Never fail to capture nice angle of me running haha! Thanks Running Shot :)

My happy face when I know I'm reaching the finishing line soon.

#nomorewarning to the ugly calf muscles.

The race route for this year GEWR was slightly different as compared to the previous 3 years. Glad they bother to make a change because one can get bored running the same route year after year. Welfare from pre-race to post-race was as usual good.

No complains as it will always be 1 of my favorite yearly race :)
