Nunsaram Korean Dessert Cafe @ Orchard Central

My latest favorite hangout place with friends has got to be Nunsaram Korean Dessert Cafe located at Orchard Central.

Apparently, there's this hype over bingsu for quite sometime. More and more bingsu cafes have opened in Singapore but I don't have the chance to try them yet. No idea what's the hype about and I've actually never been to Korea, so I can't really comment whether is it as good as the authentic ones.

During my latest meetup with friends (while taking a break off from all the wedding preparation), we had our quick dinner at Genki Sushi and leave some stomch space for desserts thereafter.

Nunsaram Korean Dessert Cafe is located at 5th floor of Orchard Central. It's a open concept cafe hence it's very easy to spot, especially with it's unique logo :)

The menu all printed on the banner.

The counter for ordering

The counter for pick up.

Do note that they do have free ice water for customers and everything here is self service :) That includes returning of your tray after you have finished eating.

We were given this 'pager' once we ordered our dessert.

Cute snowman on the floor too!

On my first visit, I tried the Chocolate Banana Bingsu - $13.90

That's how it looks like on the inside.

The bingsu is actually made of very soft and melt in your mouth kind of shaved ice.

#welfie with the bingsu!

Overall the bingsu was good. But we regretted ordering the chocolate banana flavour because it's too filling and very heaty. We didn't finish it in the end. I'll definitely prefer to go for the matcha one instead.

The queue was forming up when we left at around 8pm. We went to do some shopping around town area and also to see xmas lighting :)

With the famous tree in Orchard road.

Okay we tried quite hard to position ourselves so as not to block the snowflake. lol.

I met up with my buddies after my wedding also to catch up. Desserts were at Nunsaram Korean Dessert Cafe too.

This time round I suggested them to order the Matcha Bingsu.

Matcha Bingsu - $13.90

I find it taste better than the Chocolate Banana Bingsu. It's not too sweet and matches well with the almonds and nuts.

We ordered their toast too..

Honey Bread - $6.90

We decided on chocolate flavor but in the end buddy ordered the honey one instead lol. The toast was alright, but filled with lots of whipped cream. It will be better if it's with 1 scoop of ice cream on top of the bread instead. Price was reasonable too.

#onthetable

We manage to whip out everything clean haha! Maybe that's because I'm with 2 guys, it's easier for us to finish everything.

#welfie with buddies

Will definitely go back there again to try other flavors of their bingsu :)

White Restaurant @ Punggol Settlement

It was an impromptu road trip to the White Restaurant @ Punggol Settlement

I've long wanted to try their famous Seafood White Bee Hoon (海鲜白米粉) and was tempted to run there and ta bao back haha! I forsee myself running there and have problems returning (probably take much longer time) lol. By then the white bee hoon might be very soggy? But after having it once, I'm tempted to make such trips soon. #yolo

My sister-in-law called meto ask if we are interested to go to the White Restaurant during one of our last few gown and suit fitting session. Thankfully we were almost done with our fitting when they call so its kind of just nice. Anyway, it's best to reach way before dinner time because the queue is super duper long.

We reached there around 6 plus in the evening and this is the scary queue! I think the queue is just so long on every weekend. The whole restaurant isn't that big hence they can't really accommodate to such a large amount of people.

We jumped quite a number of people queuing in front of us when the waitress know there's only 4 of us. Seems like waiting for a table for less than 4 person is much easier.

Inside the restaurant..

The introduction of the famous white bee hoon

Seafood White Bee Hoon

Very yummy and regretted not ordering the large one though. It was sweep up pretty quickly haha!

Opps pardon for the blur shot.

But anyway the Fried Rice was meh, kind of wasted our stomach space.

 Broccoli with Scallops

Fried Dou Fu

We were very disappointed with this dish because we thought it's those pure white dou fu inside. But in actual fact it's actually not. It feels like some mashed potato mixed with carrot and veggies, wrapped with tons of flour before deep frying it.

Oh well, I guess we will try other dishes the next time round . We are most satisfied with their Seafood White Bee Hoon for now. Totally worth it/a must to order the large Seafood White Bee Hoon for everyone who visit there :)

Great Eastern Women's Run 2015

It's my 3rd time joining GEWR and yes I can't believe it's my 3rd GE run! GEWR was my first 10km 3 years back and I have never stop participating in it since then. It's one of the must-join race every year because of it's great welfare and how organized the race has always been.

What makes it more special this year is because this year is their 10th year anniversary. Hence they are giving out a very pretty memento tee for all the participants on top of their usual running singlet :)

The racepack collection was held weeks before the race day and it was held at Suntec.

I went on the 2nd day of the racepack collection and the queue was super long. It took me more than 1/2 hour to get the race pack. But at the very least, the queue was always moving hence we can't feel we were standing there for too long. Poor Derp have to queue and wait for me so I treated him to dinner after the GE race pack collection.

The queue extend till the outside of Suntec.

Almost getting in to the mall after more than 15 mins..

Finally almost there after 20 minutes of queuing outside Suntec

The goodies in the racepack.

GEWR never fail to pamper all their runners with lots of goodies :)

I love the memento tee the most!

On race day, I was late opps! Can't really remember what's the reason but I didn't make it to the first wave of the flag off. Was a little sad because I wasn't early enough to join the pacers till the finishing line but oh well, I can only depend on myself then.

Despite being late, still need to take the mandatory shot haha!

While waiting for flag off..

Spotted the sunrise which greeted us that morning. Yay to a #hazefree run :)

Having ran the route for the 3rd time, it was something not new to me. The only challenge is always about beating the sun before it come out. This is the challenge for every morning race. Hence the last few km was the most torturing part of the race.

The first 5km was a breeze but I didn't make it to my personal best timing. I decide to just listen to my body and enjoy the process since a PB is getting further and further as I progress each km.

I know Derp was there waiting for me at the usual spot, waving to me during the last few hundred meters. Since he got a camera phone now, he also took photos of me heading towards the finishing point haha!

#likeahappybird finishing the race for the 3rd time :)

Changed into my memento tee and took pic. The truth is the running singlet was all wet haha!

With Derp who have been with me throughout these 3 years of GEWR

The one who joins GEWR without fail every year even though we always ran different cat.

2013, 2014 and 2015

I must say this year medal is very chio because it's gold plated.

The only official finisher pic I have this time round. Okay I definitely look better during GEWR2014, when the photographers were not located at only the finishing point. It's not easy to look good after running nearly 10km.

Truth to be told, I was only 2 minutes away from my PB. Oh well, there's always a next time to clock a PB but I must say this is the best 10km done this year. I'm looking forward to more GE races in the near future.

Shape Yoga 2015, Brunch @ Lola's Cafe

After practicing Yoga for a year plus, I decided it's time to take the yoga practice to outdoor. It's not easy to cope with the awkwardness at first, but oh well after you start to concentrate and get in the mood, one will not be caring about all these mixed feelings but instead enjoy the process.

I roped my SIL to join me since there was a buddy sign up offer and the goodie bag was quite attractive. She just started her Yoga journey and I think such experience is beneficial :)

Due to the haze, the event was moved from The Lawn @ Marina Bay to inside Aperia Mall.

To be honest, I didn't know such a mall exist until I joined this event but it wasn't that difficult to locate. We reached there roughly 15 minutes earlier but there was not much space left. After some commotion, we managed to get a spot. The booths around the event start to relocate themselves so as to create more space for the participants.

#fromwhereidoyoga

A quick #welfie before the event starts.

See I told you we weren't late, is just there's people who are even earlier than us haha!

One of the almost ending poses

Even though we were very far off from the stage but by hearing the verbal instructions and the "monkey-see monkey-do" spirit, we managed to pull off the 1.5 hours of yoga session!

It was roughly 9+am  when the whole event ended. We decide to have brunch together before heading home to rest our Sunday away. My stomach was growling away throughout the whole yoga session,

Since we both stay in the North East area, it's no doubt that we chose to have brunch at that area. I suggested Lola's cafe since my SIL did not went before and I had a good experience dining in there more than a year ago! Not forgetting there's no gst and service charge when dining in there :)

The menu

My usual caffeine fix - I can't remember it's iced latte or iced cappuccino.

No trip to Lola's cafe is complete without their Truffles Fries - $12

We couldn't finish this big plate of truffle fries but it's indeed very shiok!

I ordered the Avocado Eggs Benedict - $15 for my main. Very yummy and filling! I love Eggs Benedict these days :)

My SIL ordered the Breakfast Butter Crossiant - $14. I order this when I first dined in at Lola's Cafe and I do recommend this too.

#onthetable

And so we had a very hearty brunch at Lola's Cafe. I totally skipped my lunch and my next meal time is dinner time lol.

I'll want to head back there for the dinner menu the next time round but it's a brunch place which I can never get sick of since it's so near to where I'm residing.

#flatlay of what's in the goodie bag that was given to participant of Shape Yoga 2015

I don't blame the organizer for shifting the whole event indoor and at the very laste minute find a very make-shift area for this whole event. Oh well, at the very least they didn't cancelled it because I was looking forward to it since it's my first outdoor yoga event.

I can't comment much whether will I join it next year, maybe yes maybe no? We'll see then!

Brunch @ Arbite

And so the wedding is finally over! It will probably take me sometime before I update this space about it but I promise I'll do it soon :) I got so much to write about it and I've more time now #byright but hopefully I don't procrastinate too long.

I met up with highness over brunch to pass her the wedding invite! She's probably the first few I met up to pass the invites though.Despite the need to start dieting for my wedding, I reckon there's still a need to meet up with friends for catching up and have some good food! If not it will be so depressing.

We decide to stick to north east area for brunch so we went to Arbite which is located at Serangoon Garden (very near to chomp chomp). The rating for their brunch is pretty good so we give it a try.

You got to climb some stairs before reaching the cafe.

The food menu

The drinks menu

It's a small cosy cafe and thankfully highness has made a reservation so we got our seats pretty fast.

They pay attention to all their customers so much so that they provide us with this bag hooks to hang our bags :) Very thoughtful of them to do that so I give them 10/10 for their servive!

Having my caffeine fix by ordering their ice latte (if i never remember wrongly)

Both of us ordered their Arbite Breakfast ($17)

Even though the Arbite Breakfast costs $17, it's really very good and value for money. The portion is huge and not forgetting there's a extensive range of food on that 1 plate. All you ever crave for in a brunch can be found in the Arbite Breakfast. Their food are very yummy too!

#onthetable

Our side dish - Salted Egg Yolk Fries ($8)

We went ahead with Salted Egg Yolk Fries so as to try something different from Truffle fries. No regrets because it's not bad but I'm still a truffle fan.

Before tucking in our food..

Anyway, we had a very filling lunch at Arbite. We can't finish our food even though we only had our mains and fries to share. I didn't eat anything else all the way till it's dinner time so I will say it's worth it despite it being on the pricey side.

I'll definitely go back there in time to come for another brunch or perhaps dinner.

Ending this post with a #welfie of us while waiting to ta bao Durian Mousse from Dessert Bowl :)

Do try the Durian Mousse if you are around that area because it's worth all the calories!
