I met up with my colis/ex-colis for international buffet dinner at Cafe Mosaic (Carlton hotel). One of our coli have craving for oyster and scallops so we narrow down our dining options to buffet.
We chose Cafe Mosaic because it's easily accessible and they are having 1 for 1 promotion for UOB and DBS credit card holders :)
I purposely plan the gathering on the week for my Sundown Marathon so that Karen and I can carbo load for our marathon lol!
It's advisable to make reservation because we went on a weekday night, it's quite crowded with big groups. Guess it's due to the 1 for 1 hence it attracted quite a lot of people.
The variety of food is not bad, it's much better than Cafe Swiss @ Swissotel but still lose out to The Square @ Furama because of the pricing.
Oh well, some pictures of the food below..
The fresh scallops and sashimis are just next to it. The sashimis are really fresh and it's thick! Whenever I walk passed it, it never run out. Thumbs up for their refilling service :)
The sushis..
The ebi aburi sushi(the sushi on the most right) is very very hot-selling.
I only manage to try one of it, and I wanted to go back take the 2nd time but the plate was cleared within a few minutes. :( Didn't had a chance to try it that night anymore, my coli did went back to take 1 or 2 more and asked the rest of us to go get it, but by the time we went there, it's OOS. #nofate
Their desserts which is really yummy too :)
They have this DIY your own rojak station. It was the high-light of the night.
You can add as many tau-pok / you tiao you want! Shiok! and also the amount of sauce and peanuts :)
2 of our colis volunteered to do it for us while the rest of us eye-power them haha!
It was really good and I think the portion is super huge. Probably, outside stalls will sell $5 for it.
My first round of buffet...
Standard SOP to start with sushi for any buffets I go to. And that's my 1 and only yummy ebi aburi and I never have it for the rest of the night anymore :(
I also have a plate of salad which I never took photo of because salad are just salad.
Lester and I went to the mixed vegetables section and saw the chef stir-frying vegetables for people. It's like teppanyaki style. It looks good so we decide to share it because we are unsure how it will taste like.
We do think we took a lot of vegetables because it's like a mountain.
We happily forgot that vegetables do shrink after you cooked them, so it turned out really little hahaha!
It's really yummy even though it has shrunk.
I had roast beef too..It was not bad :)
I went to took some cooked food too. Nth special about it.
The fish was so-so, noodles also so-so and the prawns are just frozen prawns.
So much for being a small eater, it was dessert time! I was almost bursting by then but no matter what, just have to squeeze down the desserts!
All of them taste yummy but the red velvet cake do taste weird. Maybe because they wasn't using cream cheese on top but more like just normal cream.
We had no trouble taking group photos now thanks to Karen's selfie rod. We had a good laugh while figuring out how to use. And I think when the stick show up, lots of people was looking at us. So pai seh!
Say bye to facing encounter black-face waiter/waitress who gives you irritated face when you asked them to help you take photo.
A 45 degree from the top is still the best angle for everyone hahaha!
