A jog to Jurong Eco-Garden

It's was one of those Sundays whereby we were lazing around, doing our own stuff. I do enjoy that very often because it's the day to wind down and chill before Monday arrives. Yay to more free time since renovation is over :)

One week have passed since Sundown Marathon and I suggest we should hit the track soon, so we decided to venture into the newly opened Jurong Eco-Garden since I'm getting bored of my current running route.

I chanced upon the news article announcing Jurong has a new attraction called the Jurong Eco-garden. It looks really not bad and quite a big place, seems like a good place to have a jog/stroll in :)

I went to find out where the place is and it's really near to my place parent's place. I told Derp we could actually just run there and run back. It shouldn't pose much a problem :)  Derp was quite doubtful about the distance but I assure him it's really near! I took the effort to go onemap.sg to measure the route out and show him.

Though at first I was afraid there's no water point and we might just be thirsty max. But fret not there's a water cooler in Jurong Eco-Garden

The route there wasn't that challenging, there were only 1 upslope and also some trails along the way. Some parts of the road was uneven but most of time it was more than okay. We were running beside the road but thankfully it was weekend, the traffic wasn't that bad if not we will be breathing in lots of unhealthy air!

It was a near 3km jog to reach there and we passed by this pottery sign directing visitors to it's pottery centre located inside Jurong Eco-Garden.  Apparently,  this pottery place has been there for really long and what they did were to build a garden around it.

The Jurong Eco-Garden is just next to this CleanTech I and CleanTech II Office. And not forgetting, this CleanTech offices are just outside one of the NTU entrances. If you are heading towards the NIE or the NTU Hall 10++ area, this park is really near there :)

When we reached there in the evening time, there were quite a number of families there since it's the school holidays. Parents bringing kids out to explore the nature instead of doing things like playing iPad and etc. Thumbs up for the effort!

Derp was worried than sun will set really soon so we explored the place pretty fast. Once the sun set, our route back will be quite dark(should have brought the lights we used for sundown out, at the very least we feel safer with that), and we will get unwanted stings on our legs!

We were running around from place to place in Jurong Eco-Garden and probably everyone wonder why lol!

The map of Jurong Eco-Garden. And the top 2 building are the Clean Tech I and Clean Tech II offices.

Types of wildlife to look out for but we didn't get to see any!

There is this Summit Lookout which allows you to have a nice view right up at the peak of Jurong Eco-Garden. We took pictures before heading up to the summit.

The over view of Jurong-Eco Garden

I know our pose are all the same! lol!

We spotted this sculpted maze. And we do think it looks like the trolls in Frozen, perhaps a longer version lol!

All these were found at the north of Jurong Eco-garden, so we headed down south all the way since we have covered the north area.

Love the greenery!

By right you are supposed to see some animals but we totally didn't encounter any of them! There were some interesting plants around but we didn't really give a 2nd look.

Met some couple who wore quite nice and visit there, I can only say try to be your in your most comfort wear  because Singapore is really humid!

Some other photos along the way...

Now you know what I meant by same pose. lol!

We came by this area which teaches you about composting waste and went to check it out. So Derp went to open all the various containers to see what's inside.

The various containers show the dried leaves/rubbish/waste at different weeks ranging from week 1 all the way to week 12.

We spotted this old couple who has this really cute Pomeranian and taking a stroll exploring the area just like us. Derp and I have an agreement  when we are old and have retire we will have the dog that we wanted all these years to accompany us during our good old days. If you are wondering why not now, because we are still working and the poor dog will be dump at home and no one will accompany him/her. That's damn sad.

More things that can be found at Jurong Eco-Garden but we spot none!

Spotted yet another interesting sculpture while walking..

Okay la, it's basically trying to display the rain forest in a artsy fartsy way.

Not forgetting to take a mandatory shot with it..

Spotted this pavilion in the middle of the swamps...

Didn't realise Derp's shot was blur! Opps.

One of my favourite #OOTD of all time, sports attire!

Ending this posts with just 2 more pics of Jurong Eco-Garden..
