Windowsill Pies

A rare date with Derp on a Sunday morning because we usually dread going out on weekends! Weekends are mostly spend doing household chores and tidying the house up /nua-ing around.

Hence, I cherished rare date like such! Oh well, it's hard to come by especially when both of us had the mood to forgo our beauty sleep just to hunt for nice food :)

We decide to pop by Jalan Besar area which has lots of cafe like Chye Sin Huat, The Tiramisu Hero and etc. The area is nothing new to us and it's a place worth visiting due to the many cafes around.

This time round, we decided to pay Windowsill a visit! Have heard much about the pies there and not forgetting the big bear for photo taking.

The exterior of the cafe. You probably won't miss it if you are walking pass it.

They have this really vintage decors in the cafe.

The bear soft toy which every customer will try to take photo with.

The counter

Their kitchen is under renovation hence they are not serving any mains. However, they were honest enough to let us know they only served pies and if we are looking for savoury food, we can head to the other cafes around the corner.

In the end, we ordered coffee and their pies for our brunch. They were hearty and filling enough for a brunch.

This is the capuccino. Their coffee was really good or perhaps Derp and I got too used to drinking 'cheapo' coffee, cafe's coffee taste like heaven to us lol!

That's Derp's latte and the pies we had ordered to share. Totally instagram-worthy.

From Left to Right:

Banana Almond Brittle Sweet banana mousse, salty caramel and crunchy nuts come together in an explosion of flavour!

Strawberry Lemon Meringue Pie - Creamy lemon curd with a tinge of strawberry jam, topped with meringue.

Morello Cherry Pie - Filled with sticky morello cherries and covered with an intricate weave of sugared shortcrust.

My favourite has got to be the strawberry lemon meringue even though it's pretty sour.

While we ate the pies here and there, the taste can be quite contradicting. One moment sour and the very next moment it's sweet! In short, their pies were really good and do make a good dessert haha! Kind of weird to something sour for the first meal of the day.lol.

Before dining in

And now presenting to you some photos with the bear before we left..

He's really heavy and I had to adjust him.

Still adjusting his head..

Finally a nice shot hehe.

Derp told me he has a new brother lol.

Last but not least, a photo of us with the bear.

Thanks to the staff who helped us took this photo quite a few times until we got it 'right' .

Will defintely go back there again and hope that their kitchen is ready and there's savoury food the next time round!
