Petite Bakehouse

Yay to the opening of the new bakery shop in the neighborhood :) Though I'm still waiting for the coffee shop to be opened, but it's good enough that the clinic and bakery shop opened as of now.

Petite Bakehouse was having their soft launch on the 10th and 11th October. It's a Friday and Saturday.

Derp and I dropped by on the Saturday, 11th October. As they opened from 10am-6pm for their soft launch days, it's a little too rush for me to reach there after work on Friday.

I do love the exterior of it because it looked really atas. It's definitely a new concept of bakery below a HDB block.

We went in and found out that they were having 1 for 1 promotion. Hence, we bought some of their cakes to try.

Here are some of the cakes that were sold on the soft launch day..

Petite size Cupcake. We bought 4 of these since it's 1 for 1.

Desserts cup which they all it 'shot'

The organic cookies area. :) All their cookies are egg-free if i'm not wrong.

Took this #OOTD with the shop front and looking happy with my buys. They pack it up really nicely in the box for you. Really very atas!

So this is what we bought...

Petite Cheescake and Banana Chocolate Cupcakes

And the best buy of the day are these very beautiful looking rainbow cakes.

My eyes were attracted to this cakes from the moment I stepped in and when I know they were having 1 for 1 promotion, these were the first thing I told them to pack it up for me haha! There were only 2 of such rainbow cakes left so it seems like a popular choice.

They were going at 6 bucks for one so that day it was 6 bucks for 2 of these pretty cakes :) Though after eating this I feel it's #fatdieus, but on normal days we won't purposely buy such cakes and indulge in it because it's really not cheap without the promotion. It's a luxury food!

This rainbow cake doesn't taste as sweet as I thought it will be and to my surprise there were actually  M and M chocolates hidden in it. :) A very sweet surprise from them and that definitely brightens up my day.

You can visit their website for more information and I believe they are the first unique bakery around in the neigbourhood. So if you are staying nearby or heading to the SRC, you can drop by to take a look. I'm glad to find out that they do customization for events like birthday parties/baby showers and etc.

So if you are looking for something unique for your love ones's birthday/events, you can actually get it here. It's really convenient for me though it's not a bakery which I will drop by very often. I do admire their entrepreneurship for opening it just below my block. :)

Menya Musashi @ Raffles City Shopping Centre

Rainy day calls for some comfort food so Derp and I head to Raffles City for some ramen :)

It was pouring mad heavily on a Saturday morning and we had an appointment to collect our pre-wedding photoshoot album and etc. But anyway, we didn't stay that long because we are really hungry. I'm glad that we settled our AD photography too :)

One more thing off the to-do list though there's still many on the list. Oh well, one step at a time and eventually we will get there.

Once we entered Raffles City shopping centre, the nearest food that's within our line-of-sight is Menya Musashi. It's not our first time having their ramen because we once had it at Star Vista. Derp totally can't remember we try this before and his reason being: there's too many ramen stalls in Singapore lol.

I still remember when Menya Musashi first opened at Raffles City shopping centre, the queue seems to be never ending. Now that they have opened so many outlets, there wasn't any queue that day and we immediately got our seats.

We were to place our order through this touch screen ipad attached to the wall.

Hard copy menus were given out to us too.

We top up for the side dish for each mains (I told you we were really hungry) and also ordered a jug of water. They don't serve free ice water and I reckon the jug seems more worth than 2 cups of water.

Gayoza and Cold Toufu served with sesame salad dressing.

Derp ordered the Red Cha Shu Ramen (2 Piece)

Mandatory shot and he mentioned that I always 'cut off' his hair in photos.

Black Cha Shu Ramen (2 piece)

Their ramen are definitely nice and I especially love their black garlic soup base :) As for the price, it's comparative to other ramen restaurants.

At the very least, it serves us some comfort food on a rainy day.

My Humble Yoga Journey

I'm taking some time out to update my yoga progress. My first ever yoga blog entry was at the beginning of September.

Unknowingly, I've already completed 12 lessons of yoga and started on a new term a week ago. Time really flies without one realizing!

Yay to a new term and this would means I've survived 12 lessons. #achievenmentunlocked

I'm glad I never give up and diligently attend every lesson though I skip one lesson because I was really sick then.

The last few weeks of lessons were more intensive and we were required to do more than 10 sets of sun salutation poses. Some days, our instructor require us to do it fast and on the others, we have to hold each poses for few minutes. I bet I will never forget what's sun salutation is for the rest of my life.

On the very last lesson of the term, she made us sweat a bucket before making us do Acro Yoga. It looks really scary when she demo it with another student. But all of us know we had to do it. No escaping!

Daphne and I partner together to get it done. After so many weeks of having lessons together, I think we have the mutual trust in each other. :) We helped each other during warm up stretches before, so I guess us doing Acro Yoga together shouldn't have much of a problem even though she's really tall!

"We fell, we laughed about it but we never give up. Eventually we succeeded :)"

This pose may seems really difficult but it's actually not that difficult! All it requires is arm strength and also leg stregth. We modified and do the easier way out which is to hold on to each other shoulders instead on palms to palms. When we first started doing, I was quite scare and Daphne was also scare.

So we fail quite a few time before finally getting it. Need to some sort get into the momentum and eventually we succeeded.

Daphne can straighten her legs but my arms are too short hence she cannot raise me higher lol.

My turn to lift her up :) She's so slim so it's definitely not a problem for me hehe!

My legs are almost straighten as compared to last time when I haven't even start doing yoga.

Hamstrings are looser now but still quite tight. It takes time!

Another Acro Yoga pose.

It's more scary if you are the one on top haha! Daphne is very flexible by default hence asking her to do the backbend is as easy as abc. Btw, that's our instructor helping us out and correcting us.

The last lesson incorporated Acro Yoga into it. It's really fun and I came home asking Derp to do it too lol!

Some other poses which I've attempted lately..

The crow pose which I mentioned in my first yoga blog entry, I've finally succeeded! Though it may be just that few seconds of lifting both legs up, it's a good start!

I've still got lots to work on especially on my core muscles. No problems lifting my right legs up because my right arm is the strong on. It takes time for the left leg to be up on the left arm.

One of my favourite poses after a run each time: Eka Pada Supta Virasana / One Leg Reclining Hero Pose

My instructor told us this is one of the best pose for stretching your thighs after a run. I've been doing that after every run since then. When I first attempted this pose, I can't lie flat on my back at all and I will use my elbow to support then. Now I can lie all the way back :) But I've yet to try this pose when both legs are curl in.

Baddha Ardha Matsyendrasana / Bound Half Lord of the Fish Pose

This pose stretches out the spine and shoulders. It  reduce fatigue and increase energy. It was my first attempt that day and I manage to go into a bind.

Ustrasana / Camel Pose

The 'arc' is very important in this pose, and often people aim to touch their foot and forgot to keep the arc. It's normal if one can't touches their feet at first. This pose strengthen the back muscles and I'm pretty bad at back bend, so there's much to improve on!

The yoga journey for me has just started and I can't wait to fill up this space with more of such photos. I've never regret taking yoga because it gives me a new sense of satisfaction and I can feel it helps in improving my running :) I strongly believe when your muscles are stretch, you perform better.

That's all for now, till then!

Buffet Lunch @ Plaza Brasserie (Park Royal @ Beach Road)

A few Saturdays back, Derp's uncle treated us to buffet lunch @ Plaza Brasserie to catch up over a lunch session. It's my 2nd buffet in a month. Seriously, #fatdieme

Plaza Brasserie is located Park Royal @ Beach Road. It was our first time going to Park Royal @ Beach Road and never did I know that it's actually near Nicoll Highway until I googled it.

Derp and I have only been to that area during our marathons and just recently, Derp accompanied me to that area for Shape Run

We roughly know the hotel is of a walking distance from Nicoll Highway MRT and when we walked till The Concourse, we have no idea how to  continue walking from there. We resort to using google map app on our phone and then we figured our way there.

#OOTD - The Velvet Dolls's Ship Ahoy Sarilorette Dress. The prints of the dress is really cute and the cutting of the dress is really flattering. Review of the dress is up here

We were greeted with a wide array of food when we entered the place. The variety of food at Plaza Brasserie's buffet lunch is reasonable and it has pretty much what you would expect from other buffet places.

Because it was too early for me to eat cooked food, I had the salad and sashimi first before I slowly proceed to eat other food.

Some pictures of the food they served..

No idea why but the dessert were placed pretty much near to where all the diners were.

Bread and different types of butter and cheese.

More desserts.

The salad station.

Various dressing and toppings.

They serve very fresh seafood and when I took this photo, the Jap cuisine's section was not 'operating' yet. The chef was still prepping and cutting the sashimi.

At the very least, they cater a chef for distributing sashimi to the dinners. They have a few types of sashimi (different parts of the salmon) hence you have to let the chef know which 'part' you want and they will slice it on the spot and put on a plate for you.

I personally prefer such system so that you need not 'camp' and wait for the sashimi to be refill and less than 5 minutes, no more sashimi again! That's quite frustrating at times.

Fresh prawns which I didn't took any. I was too lazy to pluck it.

Some appetizer and the sandwich was the one that kept me full and something which is suitable to eat for my first meal of the day.

The various kueys that they serve. Something decent to eat too early in the day.

The cooked food which I didn't really had much too.

We also had crepe which was cooked on the spot by the chef. Very yummy and we top it up with Hershey's chocolate sauce. I thought I took a picture but I couldn't find it when I scan through my photo gallery.

Plaza Brasserie offers a nice and quiet environment for gathering with family/friends on the weekends. The service is good and they clear your plates/refill your water fast. There wasn't much people for their weekend lunch, hence you can sit there for as long as you like.

I will highly recommend this place for big group gathering or a couple date over the weekend :) It beats having to squeeze with the crowd at town area.

100 Doraemon Secret Gadget Expo @ JB City Square

A long post ahead filled with lots of pictures!

So here I go..

After our lunch at Kurotomo Ramen Sumitaki, we head down to get the tickets for the 100 Doraemon Secret Gadget Expo. Actually,  we aren't very sure where to get the tickets so we roamed around till we find the ticket booth. It's actually at the McDonald's area.

A very small booth but the booth is quite prominent for you to notice it.

The ticket price for adults and children.

No queue at the ticket booth and we got our tickets in less than 5 minutes. Can't wait to enter the exhibition to meet the many many Doraemons!

The entrance to the exhibition is less than a minute walk from the ticketing booth.

A selfie stick works wonder at such places haha!

I believe everyone who have watched Doraemon would have remember this classic pink door :)It's call the "Anywhere Door". It will bring you to the destination you wish to go to.

So much of a coincidence, I'm wearing pink too!

Doraemon used to have ears before his ears got eaten up.

#selfie with doraemon.

Asked Derp to give it a try too lol.

Okay time for more Doraemons! Although we are not big fan of  Doraemon, Doraemon played a big part during our childhood days.

Fyi till this date, if we wake up early on weekends, we will auto change channel to Channel 8 to watch Doraemon while having our breakfast.

Don't know why the Doraemon mouth like that de! lol. There's quite a few Doraemons in the exhibition with such mouth.

#uglybutidon'tcare

So many Doraemons behind us :):)

There will be a description tag attached to the Doraemon and we go one round to read it. Some of which we are pretty familiar with but some we totally didn't know such 'power' exists.

Basically anywhere is a good #welfie spot for us since we have the selfie stick.

May Derp's wish come true after touching that lamp.

Doraemon is cute in the way that he's round everywhere! His hands, legs and basically his whole body is round :)

I make a collage of all the different Doraemons we met after walking 1 round.

After we were greeted by the many many Doraemons, we walked to the next section which simply illustrate the story of Doraemon.

He first looked like this.

This explained why he lost his ears.

And one fine day, he accidentally drank the wrong potion and cry for many days which resulted in him changing color.

The Doraemon that we are familiar with.

This room keep changing color but anyway our main purpose is to take photo with the Doraemon who is driving some machine.

With Shizuka Minamoto aka 静香

Derp wanted to put this as his new display pic, but we only realise that this thing doesn't match a normal adult height after viewing the photos.

Nobita Nobi and Shizuka Minamoto got married in the end :)

A much better display pic for Derp haha!

Derp was the one taking this photo first and I couldn't figure out why he looks weird.

And he told me to hold the specs and I did. So this picture is my new display pic.

This is so fun but Derp don't want to take a photo with it. Everyone is pretending to 'fly' and take photo when they reach there. lol. They even cater to kids/adults with the different height of this flying hat.

A booth for visitors to take photo with and they will print out the photos for you. But I don't know what's so nice to take photo with 2 emo people. -_-".

Alright, last 2 photos..

One last photo with Doraemon before we left.

There were many Doraemon's merchandise on sale but we control ourselves. Now that we have our own place, we do think thrice before buying anything. Need to be conscious about the space we had since new flats are so small nowadays :( Not forgetting, one need to consider where to keep it too!

Derp bought himself a new lanyard and I bought the eye mask for Lester lol. Nothing from the exhibition for myself.

We finished walking the exhibition in 2 to 2.5 hours. The whole area isn't big and it's not crowded even on weekends which made it easier for you to take as many photos as you like. :) Though it's a short getaway, we enjoyed ourselves because it's our only getaway this year!

We didn't went to the cafe to have the coffee with Doraemon latte art because we couldn't locate it in the first place. It's actually at the higher levels up, very near 'inner city'. A very small area for this temporary 'cafe', we could not get any seats when we finally found the cafe hence we gave it a miss.

After walking the exhibition, I think there's high chance this exhibition will come to Singapore but the ticket price might be S$25 and not RM$25 anymore. Not forgetting all the merchandise will be double the price too.

I do think it's worth it to make a trip to JB City Square for the 100 Doraemon Secret Gadget Exp. It will only be there for 100 days so do act fast :)
